Happy Friday from my garden.

The first crocus to appear in my garden this week ❤️.

I’m really enjoying the fruits of what these little bulbs I planted in the autumn around the base of my rowan tree, are now blooming into. Looking forward to the purple ones blooming to join them.

Anyone else love a crocus? Or another early spring flower?

What a difference a day makes! Mango sunbathing on the deck yesterday, his first one of the year! The sun was glorious and I enjoyed a cuppa outside too.

Exciting to think what is to come soon, the warmth on my back, doors open and flowers beginning to bloom 😊.

A pretty wild periwinkle that caught my eye whilst out walking. A lovely bit of colour on some rather grey days of late and not uncommon to be seen flowering in January.

Happy New Year to you all 🎆. I thought I’d bring you some colour from my garden kick start 2022 😊.

Usually in January gardens can feel a little bit bleak, waiting for the snowdrops to show their little white heads and other bulbs to start slowly emerging building to lovely vibrant fresh spring colours as winter draws to a close and spring ‘springs! . But not this year, having had a very mild winter so far, some of my summer flowers are still flowering including this fuchsia!

Drop me a comment if you have something flowering at the moment that you don’t normally see.

Gorgeous autumn ornamental grass colour 😊.

This weekend I moved a few pots to add existing ones by my new seating area creating some autumnal interest as the season changes.

I planted some new bronze Carex flagellifera auruga grasses in with the vibrant green heuchera.

Up-cycling anyone?

I love a good bit of up-cycling and have managed to achieve this in a number of ways in my own garden using bricks from an old brick bbq to edge new borders, to using old fencing to create planters. However, I never thought I’d use this lovely horse bridle holder, newly painted, for the hosepipe! I’ve tried a variety of ways to keep the hose off the ground over the years, but it always ended up twisted and on the floor. So I’m pleased to finally have a solution.

The story goes that this one belonged to my great great grandfather Frederick, a keen horseman. It must be at least 150 years old if not more and it’s perfect for the job! Nice and sturdy and wide.

I don’t think he would ever have guessed it would’ve survived, stayed in the family and become a hosepipe holder in his descendants garden, but I’m so pleased I can use and treasure it.

Exciting times 😊. Welcome to my new garden page. I’m planning to pop up photos and give some hints and tips as we follow seasons.

So to kick off, I thought I’d post up a few photos from around my garden so far this year (including the cats who love to get involved by mostly sleeping in the sun!).

What a year it has been from a cold spring which delayed some flowers from blooming, to a few hot dry spells and heavy rain showers to a now chilly, windy August!

What’s grown well for you this year?
