March has arrived! We are well and truly past this season's threshold, and happily turning our inward winter energy outwards to the season ahead. With the arrival of Spring, temperatures will generally increase, and although weather patterns are hard to predict, the days will certainly continue to get longer.

Nesting season has begun for the birds and with it the welcomed dawn chorus, and we can begin to see bees in the fields and frogspawn in the ponds. Here in Devon, on the 1st March we had 11 hours of daylight, which will increase to 13 hours by the end of the month. With this increase in daily light, and warmer soil temperatures, plants will grow more rapidly and our prop benches will start to fill up - March is a big seed sowing month!

Wondering what you can sow this month?

If you’re propagating under cover you can start off Beetroot, Brussel sprouts, Kohl rabi, Cauliflowers, Summer cabbages, Onions, Lettuce, Celery and Celeriac.

You have until mid March to get your Tomatoes, Chillies, Peppers and Aubergines sown. Ideally they will be started off with a little heat.

If you’re hoping to grow flowers this season now is a great time to sow Rudbeckia, Snapdragons, Amaranth, Strawflowers, Sprinkles grass, Greater quaking grass, Bunny tails grass, Nigella, Cynoglossum, Scabious, Yarrow and Verbena.

If you’re sowing directly outdoors you can start off root crops like early Beetroot, Turnips, Carrots and leafy greens like Chard and Spinach. It’s also a great time to get some Radishes, Spring onions, Peas and Broad beans in the ground.

What are you excited to sow this month?

Choose Your Thoughts Wisely

Our thoughts influence our lives
in ways we don’t always realize or understand.
So think of your thoughts as seeds,
small beginnings with quiet intentions,
waiting for the moment to open,
holding the promise of all they might become.

Some are planted with intention,
pressed into the soft soil
of the mind.
Others simply arrive
and begin to take root,
reaching toward whatever light
you offer them.

In time, they shape the landscape
of your days,
fields of calm,
thickets of worry,
wildflowers of possibility,
vines of doubt.

Choose your thoughts wisely.
Notice what you water,
what you feed,
what you allow to spread.

With patient hands,
you can cultivate a garden
that sustains you,
one thought,
one seed,
one moment
at a time.

Fossil fuel companies want to keep flooding our home with plastic for profit. They’re trying to block action to tackle plastic pollution - we must stop them.

REMINDER: There is too much plastic in the water because we keep putting water in plastic.

Right now, word leaders are negotiating a new legally binding Global Plastics Treaty - a once in a generation chance to cut plastic production.

But plastic loving lobbyists who make billions turning oil into plastic are trying to sabotage the treaty.

If you hate plastic pollution, now is the time to take, before it’s too late!

Morning. I won’t be doing my driveway plant sale this year but my greenhouse is filled with tomatoes, aubergines and sweet peppers to sell. Not as many this year so they’ll probably go fast! All organic and unusual varieties. Come and choose what you’d love for delicious fruit//veg all summer. Jez
