This afternoon we had to say goodbye to tilly 😥 heartbroken doesn't come close.
She was such a good dog we couldn't of asked for better which makes it harder, as much as we feel awful for making that decision we know it had to be done.

I actually caught this one three times in my time on that venue, it's barbels always seemed to curl and point forward.
Can't actually remember the weight but think about 43lb.
Quite mad to think that back in them days there were only about fifteen or more forty pounders In the country unlike now !
Being out the fishing game for quite a long period of time and coming back into it you realise how much fishing has changed, long gone are the days of quiet mid week sessions.

Can't remember what year this was but I was probably about 15 or 16 years old.
Up the road from where I lived with my parents there was an estate house it was a hotel and conference rooms but had lots of grounds as you can imagine.
And at the end of the lawns was almost like a moat that was almost a U shape with a finger off the bottom.
But it held some old carp, not big but ones that looked like a piece of leather all wrinkly and dark backed.
Anyhow I snuck in one day through the back of the bushes like you do 😉 and see a couple of fish swim past me so flicked out a bit if bread crust and boom !! was a bit of a mission not to get spotted to say the least.

Way back Wednesday !
I was 17 years old and just past my driving test meaning I didn't have to rely on lifts to get out fishing.
Had the freedom to get out and about.
Also had a new orange camo all in one suite 😆

Not the biggest carp ive caught but definitely a rewarding one !!
With an uneventful summer on the river not being able to move my boat to the thames as the river i was moored at was so low I couldn't move anywhere and when I got up onto the thames backend of September it was soon up in flood and the season was over.
So dropped on local park lake for end of the season doing work nights.
It was hard going to say the least ! fish active at night but packing up going to work when on the feed.
I gave myself till 10am this morning stretching it out literally to last minute.

Was a friendly one for me chunky, catching it three times on my time there.

Back to my local park lake when I was about 16/17 years old at a guess. There were some lovely looking carp in there this was a classic cali carp, biggest in there at that time was 29lb/30lb fish called the Dad, but the lake held a good number of fish like this. But like any park lake you have to put up with public and lots of bird life !!
But on a serious note I'm nearly 50 years old now and dont think I've aged one bit 😄
