🚦Public consultation launched on Plymouth’s Major Road Network

I’ve received an update from the Strategic Transport Team about plans to improve Plymouth’s Major Road Network (MRN) – the key roads running from Weston Mill to Marsh Mills, through the city centre and along Embankment Road. The upgrades aim to reduce congestion, make walking and cycling easier and give buses priority.

A public consultation on the works has begun and will run for six weeks ending on Friday 20 March. You can have your say online or by attending one of the in-person events below:

- Thu 19 Feb, 3pm–7pm – The Business Centre, Cattedown
- Mon 23 Feb, 3pm–7pm – Weston Mill Sports and Community Hub
- Wed 25 Feb, 10am–2pm – Tothill Community Centre
- Sat 28 Feb, 10am–2pm – Plymouth City Centre

You can find the full the details of the Major Road network and the online consultation here: www.plymouth.gov.uk/mrn

Please share your thoughts and come along to an event if you can – this is your chance to help shape Plymouth’s roads!

!Please read to the end!

This is our puppy Mabel.
She loves to spend time in the office, but at the moment she is on holiday with her friends Shell and Nick.

Mabel is sorry to tell you that last week she pulled Mike over whilst walking on the moor and now he is in hospital with a broken hip. Unfortunately this means that he is out of action for a while.

We will endeavour to contact everyone with ongoing jobs as soon as possible and Mabel is looking forward to seeing him again soon.

I very much doubt that she is anywhere near as sorry as we are for the inconvenience she has caused, but she hopes you will agree that she is very cute

Bin day changes in Cornwall

Don’t forget your food waste, recycling, rubbish and garden waste collections may run on different days over the Christmas and New Year period.

No collections will take place on Christmas Day or Boxing Day (Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26) so crews can spend time with their families.

This means that if your usual collections fall between December 25 and January 2, your collections will be on a different day.

Wrap your presents in plain paper for a more sustainable Christmas 🎁

Traditional Christmas wrapping paper and sticky tape should be put in your rubbish bin. Our recycling team can't take traditional wrapping paper, so if you put it into in with your recycling, we can’t take it and will leave it in your container.

If you want to be more sustainable this Christmas, use recyclable brown or plain paper instead.

🚗 We’re asking residents in some areas of Prince Rock and St Judes for their views about issues caused by commuter parking in their streets.

We want to get feedback on the level of the problem and potential solutions before deciding our next steps.

The survey will open on Monday 8 December and run until the end of January. Residents in the survey area will receive letters.

Changes on Royal Parade include average speed cameras

📣 Calling all bus users – if you’re getting on and off buses in the city centre don’t forget the big bus stop move starts on Monday 7 July.

Stops on the shop side of Royal Parade – A10, A11, A12, A13, A14, A15, A16, A17, A18, A19, A20 or A21 will be diverted to temporary stops in Union Street, Derry’s Cross roundabout or Mayflower Street. It’s preparation for the Royal Parade Improvement Scheme which starts shortly. 🚌

What’s the scheme? 👇
▪️ new road layout to increase the number of stops from 12 to 15
▪️ bigger shelters to make it easier for people with pushchairs or wheelchairs to use
▪️ clearer information about bus services in the shelters
▪️ upgraded Real Time Passenger Information displays
▪️ upgraded toucan crossing at Armada Way for pedestrians and cyclists
▪️ average speed cameras to replace existing static cameras, supporting a safe environment for pedestrians.

The new layout will prevent double stacking, unnecessary idling and improve air quality. It will also improve bus manoeuvrability and safety by reducing the need for buses to reverse out and ensure passengers can get on and off from the pavement.
