Stained Glass Windows and Leaded Light Repairs

This decorative leaded light panel, had been recovered or saved from a builders skip,with a about 15 other panels, as the neighbour couldn't bear to see them being smashed up.
I was asked if I could adapt the panel to fit into one of there pine doors.
I had to make it shorter on the width and increase the height.
I used glass from another panel for the height and cut the panel down on the width using the original glass.
What a great result and finish, recycling an old leaded light panel can bring.

Small circular panel to take out and repair.
With the help of the customer who sourced the glass for the one broken piece under the flowerpot work on the panel began.
Due to years of opening and shutting the door solder joints crack and make the panel weak, the reason for pulling the panel down, then rebuilding it.
A small part of the original panel I left intacked.
To add strength to the panel I fitted a saddle bar, tied on with copper bands,you don't notice its there after a while.

Two panels to take out and repair. The panel on the right needed more work with broken glass to replace and split solder joints. Movement in the door when opening and shutting over the years weakens and causes the panels to bow.
After the panels have been repaired and copper bands attached, metal saddle bars are fitted to add strength to the panels.
The work was done at the cottage behind the Sangthai Restaurant, Escrick.

They said it didn't need to much work doing to the stained glass door panel, a lot changes when you take it out.
A complete refurbishment you could say.

New internal door panels, the square leaded panels are made using dynasty cathedral glass in pastel colours.
The diamond panels are made with English Muffle glass.

Was given an idea from the customer of what they wanted to put in a floor to ceiling window. This was the completed two window panels with the sunburst
Panel sitting on top of the floral panel when fitted.
Unfortunately on this occasion I was not fitting the panels, so I do not have a photo of them when they were installed.

This is a stained glass panel I fitted for Christine designed and made by her, she said it was her last panel she would be making before she finally hangs up her tools & retires, Happy retirement Christine. I might get a call from her to fit another panel in the new year 🤣😄😂

A trip through to Whitby, Save the children charity shop.
Take out old weathered stained glass window panel, complete refurbishment, replace any broken glass.
Back the following week to glaze the panel.
