We're in the thick of bulb season - masses in stock already, and we're eagerly awaiting our next delivery. It's worth buying now, before stocks run out. But most bulbs are best planted later. Daffodils and crocus can go in from September, but keep tulips in a cool, dark, dry place until the temperature drops - tulips are vulnerable to infections, which the colder soil in October to December helps prevent.

Plant bulbs in a hole at least twice as deep as the bulb - deeper planting leads to stronger, taller stems.

And finally - don't forget to grab a pen and label that bag! Happy planting!
