So here is the finished item that I've been so excited to reveal........ It's an AUTOMATED TELESCOPIC SLIDING GATE! I honestly don't know of anyone else in Britain who has one of these. It was very complicated to set up, but I finally got it all together and it works fantastic.
Swing gates were not an option due to a short driveway. A full length sliding gate was not an option due to the lack of space at the side of the entrance. So I fabricated and installed this set up.
There is a static panel, then two sliding gate leafs, then a pedestrian access with a combination lock. Box section frames, with an aluminium tongue and groove board insert. A CAME BX sliding gate motor powering a rack attached to the rear of the gate.
Only one gate is driven by the motor, the other is attached to the powered leaf with a cable, which along with a pulley at each end of the gate moves the extra leaf. In theory it would be possible to have three or even four gate leafs, all operated by the one powered leaf. 😬👍😀
