8-23-VI has opened its rotating panels!
Built for the Tbilisi Architecture Biennale, 8-23-VI is a permanent pavilion in the 8th district of the Gldani microrayon.
8-23-VI establishes a dialogue between the semi-private circulation of the adjacent housing block and the surrounding public realm, by extending and activating the threshold between them.
A continuous surface of rotating panels mediates this relationship, redefining it as ambiguous and ever-changing. By inviting interaction and transformation, the pavilion echoes the strategies of appropriation manifested in Gldani's many self-built garages and extensions, but establishes them as a collective practice.
The project is supported by Creative Europe, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and Tbilisi Architecture Biennial / თბილისის არქიტექტურის ბიენალე. Designed by Medium. Construction - ALL-P Metal / Zviad Chachanidze, Local coordination - Nikusha Lomidze
