SUNDAY 6PM 🤯 ITS TIME WE LET IT GO ‘MAINS CORDUROY FITTED CAP SEAT’ 💡👨🏽🎨🛠️🪚🧵🧶🛋️

Firstly up to the legend .panza for the inspo. The idea kicked off in late ‘22, but finding someone to craft the wooden structure was a mission. Then, we stumbled upon and they were instantly onboard. They showed mad passion/ energy unlike others, we knew we wanted to work with him but he was super busy 🫠
We hashed out plans for months until December ‘23 when things finally got some motion 🪵📐
We had to go with something iconic to UK culture—the dog ear cap! From old-school grime sets to modern brands giving their spin on the iconic silhouette 🧢🇬🇧
We initially considered a basic dog ear flap cap, but when we saw the Mains fitted cap, we were sold. The materials, embroidery, shape—it was next level 🤌🏽🫡
With the design locked in, it was time for upholstery work. Luckily we knew a team local to us in Birmingham📍But sourcing the right material? That was a whole saga. hadn’t dropped the hat for public sale, so we had nada to go on. We knew it was corduroy but finding the right thickness and color in the UK? Tough. We scoured fabric shops to no avail. It was either keep searching or settle for something less banging. No way we were giving up 💪🏽🎯.
Then, we realized our mistake 🤔. We’d been looking at everyday fabrics, not upholstery ones. Once we switched gears, we found a UK supplier with the goods. But the colors didn’t quite match the OG Mains hat. Thankfully, our upholsterer worked their magic and got us the closest match in terms of corduroy thickness and color. Momentum was building, and the finish line was in sight ⛽️🙏🏽.
Come January ‘24, finished the frame, and our upholsterer did their thing in the final stretch. We added the / branding and put the finishing touches on the seat 🧶🧵. The mental grind to get this project done was no joke, but seeing it through was well worth it. Big shoutout to everyone involved!
