On this day, 170 years ago was born the polymath, after whom our garden city was named. Wekerle Sándor became Hungary’s first not noble-born prime minister, moreover he hold the office three times. He worked all his life to better the circumstances of the labourers, that is why he supported the idea of building a green, harmonic garden city for them.

We will explore the 110 year old Wekerle Estate: walk along its village-like streets, visit its special folk secessionist buildings and sit in its green parks. We will visit a private garden and enter the basement of a 100 years old building, where people hid during the bombings of World War II.
