We are deeply grateful to Her Royal Highness Ashi Kesang Chodren Wangchuck, Princess of Bhutan, for her trust and guidance.

It was a true honor to share the evolution of the Dewaling Intaaya Consciousness Centre during this meaningful audience, a moment of dialogue and reflection around the collaboration between GNH Centre Bhutan and Intaaya Retreat.

Being able to present the intentions behind this sanctuary, listen to her insights, and exchange around the cultural and spiritual values that inspire this initiative was an incredibly moving and grounding experience for our team. It strengthened our commitment to approach this process with sensitivity, attention, and respect for Bhutan’s land, heritage, and way of life.

We also extend our gratitude to GNH Centre Bhutan and Intaaya Retreat for the shared vision that brought us here: a partnership rooted in Bhutanese wisdom, conscious living, and the aspiration to contribute to a more mindful and peaceful world.

This marks the first presentation of the Dewaling Intaaya Consciousness Centre, a sanctuary where ancient wisdom, nature & culture come together in dialogue.

A loved and cherished member of our family, Janni has been an integral part of our studio since 2023. Her journey with us has been nothing short of compassion and dedication to her work.

A quiet curiosity and a grounded approach to design, Janni brings both precision and warmth to every project she touches. By creating designs that carry meaning and still feels deeply connected to it’s place, she translates her ideas into ones rooted in the ethos of the studio.

Not a day goes by in the studio without her compassion and waring smile .
With love from your family🤍

Rooted in Ubud’s contours, Juna brings the landscape into the dining experience, framing river and rice field views through a circular, open plan. Vernacular craft meets contemporary bamboo architecture in a breathable structure shaped by light, airflow, and connection.

Hello everyone! 💛

It’s been a while since our last community event, and we’ve been looking forward to bringing everyone together again.

This Friday we’d like to invite you to our studio for an open conversation with Pablo about the vision and intentions behind our design process: how listening to the land and intention shape the way we design.

We look forward to having you here! ✨

Set in the landscape of Baja California Sur, this building emerges as a dialogue between two opposing forces, desert’s harshness and the ocean’s fluidity.

The Earthly Encounter serves as the Shala’s foundation, inspired by the desert’s vast and rigid first impression. To manifest this strength, the structure originates from a square geometry, representing the solid, the terrestrial, and the masculine.

As one delves deeper into the site, the rigidity opens. The floor plan expands toward the four cardinal points, forming a central geometry. This transition honors the elements and ancestral practices, integrating the spirit of the place and the life surrounding it.

The architecture then reveals the feminine. Concentric circles and rings of vegetation embrace the orthogonal center, softening straight lines with curved paths that translate water ripples. The roof unfolds radially with organic edges. Drawing from the expertise of local palapa masters, this structure protects against extreme climates and transforms the interior into a sanctuary of arches and natural textures.

This project is a physical result of union. It enables the solidity of the earth and the fluidity of the roof to coexist in a single space, creating a place where humans can integrate with their being and the environment.

Recently, I had the opportunity to share our journey through an interview with regarding our work at Erebero Hills.

I am taking a moment to reflect on the incredible people behind this collaborative project. For Asilia Africa, just as for our studio, the true driving forces behind any creation must be sustainability, community involvement, and a deep human connection to the environment.

Bringing our bamboo designs to life in Uganda has been a collaborative and unifying experience. I am especially grateful to the local team, beautifully led by .akeka during the construction phase. The incredible work they have done goes far beyond simple building; they have carefully managed the process to ensure that the very act of construction strengthens community ties and respects both local materials and fragile ecosystems.

For us, realizing a project like this represents the highest expression of our human values, honoring the land, the local residents, and the indigenous Batwa community. The Batwa elders have been our guides, sharing their traditional wisdom so that our architecture harmonizes with the territory and their legacy remains at the heart of the forest.

A central part of this vision is our massive reforestation initiative, where over 35,000 native trees are being actively planted to heal the scars left by old monoculture tea plantations. Guided by the Batwa, we are restoring indigenous species that once provided traditional food and medicine, while expanding vital habitats for wildlife, such as the mountain gorillas.

All of this takes place in the truly magical and highly biodiverse land of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Our greatest inspiration is for Erebero Hills to be a living platform where people, culture, and the enchanting rhythms of nature can coexist naturally.

Our studio, located in a quiet village south of Ubud, Bali.
At nightfall, the architecture transforms through intentional lighting. Indirect lights are balanced with focused accents, allowing for structural visibility while maintaining a warm atmosphere as the sun goes down. This precise interplay of light and shadow highlights the textures of the materials and also invites one to live the spatial and functional experience of the building during nighttime living.

By working as an architecture practice alongside a unified family of craftsmen, we have come to understand a more integrated way of building.

This relationship goes beyond coordination. It is a shared way of working, where design and craftsmanship remain in close dialogue, allowing ideas to be developed with a direct understanding of how they are made and brought into physical form.

This approach is at the core of our philosophy. It was born from the experience of designers and craftsmen working together toward a common intention, each holding their own role while contributing to the same vision. In this exchange, innovation and craftsmanship meet naturally.

By bringing these worlds together, we are able to understand our work in deeper relationship with its context. What we design is not only imagined for a place, but shaped through the process of making, with a clear awareness of how it will stand, feel, and belong.
