Planning and drafting are where the real magic of design begins.
This is the moment when 2D lines meet 3D imagination when ideas flow freely, unburdened by budgets, schedules, or technical limits. It’s just the designer and the space, in an honest dialogue of proportion, light, and possibility.
Here, thoughts are still pure, concepts are still bold, and every stroke on paper carries the excitement of what could be. Before reality steps in, this is where vision takes shape and where design feels most alive.

Office at Layur : This workplace departs from the conventional language of corporate design.
Instead of rigid lines and impersonal finishes, the space adopts a residential sensibility warm, tactile, and deeply human.
Local cultural elements are subtly embedded, not as ornamentation, but as narrative.
Natural materials, handcrafted details, and a softened spatial rhythm create an environment that supports focus while nurturing comfort.
Here, productivity is not enforced through formality, but encouraged through familiarity.
The result is an office that reflects identity, respects culture, and redefines how we experience work quietly, thoughtfully, and with intention.

The Akshada Hotel, an embodiment of its Sanskrit origin “the giver of vision” represents an intricate fusion of conceptual clarity and architectural refinement. Every aspect of its design is a deliberate expression of insight, where spatial articulation and materiality converge to evoke a sense of unspoken balance.

The architectural plan unfolds as a symphony of open, flowing spaces, strategically curated to maximize natural light and optimize experiential circulation. The use of cultural pattern and subtle spatial partitioning facilitates a profound interaction between interior and exterior, engendering a transparent dialogue between guest and environment.

The facade, a study in cultural and elegance, draws inspiration from the archetype of the eye emblematic of perception and awareness. With a meticulous arrangement of geometric forms, reflective surfaces, and dynamic light play, the facade manifests a timeless vision, while articulating a nuanced understanding of context and materiality.

In essence, Akshada transcends conventional hospitality design, offering not merely a physical space but a crafted experience that aligns vision with form, clarity with function, and presence with purpose.

A thoughtful transformation brings this hotel from its original form into a refreshing tropical-modern retreat. The design introduces warm, earthy tones that soften the overall character of the building, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the very first glance. By simplifying the façade and refining its lines, the architecture gains a quiet elegance that feels both contemporary and timeless. Most importantly, the new design establishes a natural synergy with the surrounding environment, allowing the building to blend in effortlessly while still standing out as a warm and comfortable destination.

MCM Plaza aims to reinterpret conventional building typologies by challenging the rigid distinction between interior and exterior space. Through a series of deliberate spatial and material gestures, the design redefines how occupants engage with the built environment. It is a proposition to model a contemporary office design that is climatic responsive that places well-being at its core, within the tropics context.
The massing of MCM Plaza is split into two volumes, carefully angled to add dynamism from both interior and street view. Between the volumes, a reflecting pool with potted plants anchors a floating staircase, transforming routine circulation into a moment of reflection and architectural experience.
At the ground level, exposed concrete arches mark the building’s main entrance, leading into a double-height foyer that celebrates arrival with dramatic arrival sequence. Vertical louvers made from ironwood introduce another layer of complexity, casting ever-changing patterns of light across the interiors as the sun shifts, enriching the atmospheric quality of the space.
A defining feature of the project is the open terraces that encircle each floor, forming a porous envelope that doubles as the primary circulation system for the office spaces. By using steel grating for the terrace flooring, it enables natural ventilation and fostering informal vertical connections across levels—encouraging both interaction and spatial nuance throughout the building.
Materiality played a central role in expressing the building’s identity. The façade is composed primarily of red bricks, traditionally crafted in Java, chosen for their vivid, earthy tone that visually punctuates the otherwise monotonous context of the main thoroughfare. The bricks are meticulously hand-laid with faceted detailing, creating a dynamic play of light and shadow throughout the day and lending the tactile surface a sense of depth and authenticity.
