Working across scales - from envelope to object - the project reconsiders the existing condition through both spatial & tactile lenses. Circulation, light distribution, & materiality are reconfigured to temper echo, glare, & cooling demand, while existing loose furniture is precisely measured & recalibrated to correct ergonomic shortcomings, supplemented by new interventions.

A small passage unfolds into three bedrooms, each distinct in size and configuration.

The brown room is composed around a wide, curved window overlooking Surabaya’s port. Storage is carefully concealed within its nooks, wrapping itself around a column by the window in an almost incidental embrace.

The green room merges a bed, a table, and a wardrobe into a single, raised floor, blurring the boundary between furniture and architecture.

The blue room is arranged linearly, where a table gently cocoons the bed atop a raised platform.

Throughout, white ceilings—restrained in their expression—define spatial divisions and act as a silent guide for the joinery beneath.

Unit 5206 is a study on corners, storage spaces, and the integration between its specified “objects” to form a certain relation to one another.

Deliberate alignments around a compact corridor sculpt the connection between the living area and three bedrooms. A small translucent opening set within a door allows light to filter into an otherwise isolated passage. A series of custom-made and curated objects & joineries shape how the space is encountered & inhabited.

Unit 5206 is a study on corners, storage spaces, and the integration between its specified ‘objects’ to form a certain relation to one another.

A raised floor & a long cabinet define the living area, while a mirrored surface & a wall lamp dictate the dining corner. An arched ceiling ties the two spaces.

The kitchen is composed of two separate cabinets : one anchored to the wall, the other floating to reduce visual mass.
