Pause ⏸️

Hello everyone! I have a small announcement to share. I'm taking some time away from LittlePlants; it's not a goodbye, just a brief see you later.

What started as a passion project for me—a creative escape during lockdown with the hope of leaving the corporate world to spend more time with my little one—has now become something that takes away from that precious time.

At six years old, I realize that there are fewer summers ahead to enjoy in the garden, and I want to cherish every moment I can.

The universe has presented me with a local job that I'm truly enjoying, so I will be focusing on my home, family, and this new role.

I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me over the past few years. I will keep the page active to share tips and insights if you’d like.

I believe there's wisdom in recognizing when it's time to begin something new and when it's best to step back.

If you need us, you can find us in the garden.

🌱 Gardening with Kids: Fun & Learning Combined! 🌼

Gardening is a wonderful way to engage children with nature, teach responsibility, and have fun together. Here are some tips for a successful garden adventure with your little ones:

Start Small: Begin with easy-to-grow plants like sunflowers, beans, or herbs. These give kids quick rewards!

Use Child-Friendly Tools: Invest in kid-sized tools that are safe and comfortable for small hands.

Incorporate Learning: Teach kids about plant life cycles, insects, and the importance of water and sunlight.

Get Creative: Let kids design their own garden plots or create decorative garden markers.

Make it Fun: Turn planting into a game—who can plant the most seeds or spot the first sprout?

Hands-on Activities: Let them get dirty! Digging, planting, and watering are the best ways to engage.

Gardening is not just about plants—it’s about growing together! 🌸👩‍🌾👦

Sowing chili seeds is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:

Choose the Right Seeds: Pick your preferred chili variety. Popular ones include bell peppers, jalapeños, or habaneros.

Prepare Containers: Use seed trays, small pots, or any containers with drainage holes. Fill them with seed-starting mix or a light, well-draining potting soil.

Plant the Seeds:

Sow the chili seeds about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep into the soil.

Space the seeds at least 1 inch apart to give them room to grow.

Water Gently: Water the soil gently to keep it moist, but not soggy. Avoid letting the soil dry out.

Provide Warmth and Light:

Chilli seeds need warmth to germinate (around 75-85°F / 24-29°C).

Place the containers in a warm spot, such as on top of a radiator, or use a heat mat if necessary.

Ensure they get plenty of indirect sunlight. If natural light is insufficient, consider using a grow light.

Germination: Chili seeds usually take 7-14 days to germinate, depending on the temperature. Keep the soil moist during this period.

Transplanting: Once the seedlings have developed a few leaves and are large enough to handle, they can be transplanted into larger pots or directly into your garden if the weather is warm enough.

Remember to thin out weak or overcrowded seedlings to give the healthiest ones room to grow.

🌻 5 TIPS TO GROW GREAT SUNFLOWERS 🌻

1. **Pick the Right Spot 🌞**
Sunflowers love sunlight! Choose a location with at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day to help them thrive.

2. **Plant in Well-Drained Soil 🌱**
Ensure your soil is loose, fertile, and well-drained. Add compost to enrich it and give your sunflowers the best start!

3. **Space Them Out 🌿**
Give each sunflower enough space to grow. Plant them about 6 inches apart for the best results and to avoid overcrowding.

4. **Water Consistently 💧**
Water your sunflowers regularly, especially during dry spells. Keep the soil moist but avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.

5. **Support the Tall Ones 🌻**
If your sunflowers are towering, use stakes or support cages to keep them standing strong and avoid wind damage!

With these tips, you’ll have a field of beautiful sunflowers in no time! 🌻✨

Yes, late winter to early spring is an excellent time to sow sweet pea seeds, especially if you're growing them indoors to get a head start before transplanting them outside. Here are some tips:

Soaking seeds: Soak the seeds for 12-24 hours in warm water to help speed up germination.

Planting: Plant the seeds about 1 inch deep in small pots or trays filled with compost. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.

Temperature: Place the pots in a cool but bright location, with temperatures around 50-60°F (10-15°C).

Hardening off: When the seedlings are ready to be planted outdoors (around 6-8 weeks later), harden them off gradually by exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week.

Sweet peas thrive in well-drained soil and sunny spots, so be prepared to transplant them once the risk of frost has passed.
