For the best before and after transformation and best kitchen category, I’m nominated for our Killiney client project.

As an interior stylist, I firmly believe you don’t need big budgets to transform the ordinary into the extra extraordinary. Clever use of colour and simple styling refreshes can make all the difference! Tell me if you agree.. 💚

While we wait for Junuary to push off and the summer to reload, I’m willing the sunshine back, with a throwback to our patio garden over the years.

Seasonal styling is always my happy place, especially summer! Speaking of which, you still have time to vote for me in the 𝐮𝐟𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡.𝐜𝐨𝐦 Best Seasonal Styling category sponsored by Lights4fun Link to vote on Stories and my bio.

Here are some of my budget- friendly styling tips for creating an outdoor living room style patio:

💚A large weatherproof outdoor rug you can leave down all summer long, is a great investment. Ours is several years old now but still going strong!

💚Adaptable furniture you can lounge on as well as lunch on. Our space isn’t large, so I want pieces I can move around easily.
I simply grab loads of cushions from inside!

💚Lighting - when the sun goes down and balmy evenings allow you to linger, pools of light are essential! I love festoons strung across the patio and solar lanterns which just adds that magic glow.

💚Lush planting, especially plants which will perfume the air around you like honeysuckle, lavender, roses and herbs.

💚 A decorative parasol. I adore our Bali style one, although admit it’s not easy to put up and certainly isn’t weather proof, so it’s one to check the forecast thoroughly before putting it up.

💚Then, simply add good tunes, your favourite people and yummy food!

Anything I’ve missed?
We’d always said we’d put some kind of pergola here but I think that might be a project for the next garden.

POV: Colourful homes can’t be calm…

Or can they?
I think they can, but by sticking to this simple mantra:

COLOUR, REPETITION, PLACE.

Colour - choose no more than 5-6 colours in total you are instinctively drawn to. Don’t pick based on what’s on trend or one’s your friends down the road have! Choose colours you are naturally attracted to. Flicking through magazines can help, cutting out images which speak to you.

Repeat: Once you have your palette of colours selected, repeat them in different ways in different spaces. For example in this client project- we chose the green of the kitchen units for soft furnishings and accessories in the open plan dining and living space. Wall colour is drenched on to ceilings and woodwork for a calm and cohesive scheme.

Place- Have a place for everything you don’t want to see! Good storage is key, to avoiding it feeling over cluttered and keep your home’s aesthetic calm.

This project is entered in to the awards in association with .co.uk in:
Best Before and After sponsored by
Best Kitchen
Best Use of Colour sponsored by
And I’d love your vote. Link is in my bio and on Stories.

May life lately..

Hard to believe May is almost over! With so much happening I feel it’s been a blink and miss it month. But it’s been a good one.
Swipe for some highlights:

Love this image by Eva and she took a beauty of me and my girl.
Lots of flowers, peony season which has me swooning; the most beautiful book I’ve ever seen - The Nature of Decorating by
Design inspo for an upcoming project, this image from totally stopped me in my tracks;
The garden in full bloom; a wonderful walk in Marlay Park and catch up with my interior design buddy
And some fun snaps from Gavin’s opening night celebrations. Such a lovely evening and great memories made! Thank you to everyone who came along.

There’s lots going on behind the scenes I’m itching to share with you. But for now, it’s a long weekend and I’m working this morning but looking forward to some slow days ahead. Shame our weather is about to turn, but dare I say, the garden needs a little rain!

Sarah 💚

It was such a pinch-me moment to make the finals last year and to go on to win for Best Home Office. To make it again this year would be beyond incredible. But I can only get there with your support.

So thank you to all the Ufurnish team, to for the support and encouragement and to all the sponsors.

Home office space…

Why pink? Because earthy, rich pinks in colour theory will inspire creativity and productivity, but without the overwhelm. Leaving your space feeling calm and nurturing.

When designing this space I started with how I wanted to feel. The answer - inspired, creative, happy to sit and immerse myself in work. Yet when it’s converted to a guest bedroom I still wanted it to feel calming. These colours delivered!

Colours used here in a double drench are from :
Units in Kasbah
Walls and ceiling in Roben’s Honour

As the starts today, I thought I’d look back at designing a bathroom bay for .

The starting point was the stunning Reed bath in this incredible rich, rusty orange. Finding the stunning wall mural by added the perfect wow factor back drop. It was lovely to see they have replicated a similar look in their showroom when I visited recently to film the ‘Meet The Expert’ with them for the show.

If you are planning to visit the show this weekend, I will joining Sonas Bathrooms head of interior design Anne-Marie Craig on the DFS Theatre Stage talking to Jo Linehan on the Saturday 25th at 3.30pm. Do come and say hello if you are planning to visit.

In other exciting news, we have finally pressed the go button on our en-suite project! Swipe across to see my mood board concept for the space. Unfortunately, because it’s a tricky, narrow space, we can’t alter the layout, but I’m definitely looking forward to upgrading and replacing the very tired , and in some cases broken fixtures and fittings. I wanted there to be a good flow from the main bedroom and the colour palette has been chosen to complement it. Love the Reed bathroom vanity unit from Sonas and we are excited to have better storage! The gorgeous Dancing Cranes wall mural is from Work is due to start mid May, so watch this space!

PS. For all who’ve asked, the gorgeous jacket I’m wearing in the first pic is vintage Mulberry from the fabulous Dublin.
