Folks, another reminder about the new customs charges now applying to small packages coming from outside the EU.

This is one to watch especially for anyone regularly ordering from sites like SHEIN, where one order often contains a mix of different items.

For example ๐Ÿ‘‡
- T-shirt
- Trousers
- Sunglasses

Thatโ€™s 3 unique items โ€” which could mean โ‚ฌ9 in customs charges before any other possible fees.

The charge is based on the number of unique items, not just the value of the full order.

So if your order has multiple different products, the costs can add up quickly.

Folks, a quick heads up for anyone regularly ordering small packages from outside the EU ... including Great Britain, China, USA and other non-EU countries.

From July 1st, a new customs charge of โ‚ฌ3 per unique item may apply to low-value online orders.

This is based on the different types of items in the parcel, not just the total cost of the order.

So for example, if youโ€™re ordering a mix of items from places like Temu, Alibaba, AliExpress, Shein or other non-EU sites, these charges could start adding up quickly.

๐Ÿšฉ Parcels shipped directly into Ireland

This morning, we stated that our road diesel was at a price of 1.949cpl

After a full internal investigation, we can confirm this was completely fake news!

A fair question folks - and the main reason is because the recent Irish Government tax reductions mainly targeted petrol and road diesel excise duties ๐Ÿš—โ›ฝ

The Government temporarily reduced:
โœ”๏ธ Excise duty on petrol
โœ”๏ธ Excise duty on auto diesel
โœ”๏ธ Some reductions on green diesel / MGO

However, home heating oil (kerosene) did not receive the same level of direct tax reduction.

So while diesel prices at the pump benefited quite quickly from lower excise duty, home heating oil prices are still being driven largely by:
โ€ข Global oil market prices
โ€ข Wholesale kerosene costs
โ€ข International supply pressures

Unfortunately, suppliers right across the country purchase at those wholesale rates, so the reductions havenโ€™t filtered through to heating oil in the same way.

As always, if prices ease further globally, we hope to see that reflected in kerosene too and thankfully we seem to be moving into a period of warmer weather, which is at least helping reduce the need for many households
