We designed and built this garden earlier this year and it’s looking stunning now!

What was once a long, plain lawn has been transformed with curved pathways, layered planting, evergreen screening and a circular lawn to create a much softer and more inviting family garden.

One of the most important parts of garden design is how the garden feels from inside
the house. A well designed garden should soften the view, create privacy and draw your eye outside throughout the year.

Layered planting, mature trees and evergreen structure help connect the home to the garden and make the outdoor space feel like part of the house itself.

This is a garden in Malahide we planted up last summer.

The hard landscaping was already there it just needed that final layer to bring it all
together. We reworked the beds and added new planting to soften the space and make it feel more complete.

It’s not just how it looks it’s how the garden feels to use now. The space feels more
finished, more inviting and somewhere you actually want to spend time.

If you don’t feel comfortable sitting in your garden… this is usually why 👇

Before this the garden felt completely overlooked, with low bare walls and no real sense of privacy.

Now it’s a garden designed for outdoor living, somewhere to sit out, relax and have friends over in private.

The planting has been carefully layered as part of the overall garden design, with
pleached Photinia and hedging to the back, and a mix of hedging and standard trees to the sides. This creates effective screening and privacy without ever closing the space in.

Softer planting throughout adds depth and brings the whole landscape together.

It’s this layering that really gives the garden its wow factor.

The result is a calm usable space and a natural extension of the home, something truly special to look out on every day.

Another project taking shape in Malahide!

What was once an underused garden is being completely reimagined into somewhere you want to spend time from relaxed daytime use through to evenings outdoors.

These 3D designs show a full transformation with new seating areas, a courtyard for dining and BBQ, and planting throughout to soften and bring the whole garden together, including trees and hedging for privacy and structure.

Why hydrangeas are one of our favourite plants to use in gardens!

1️⃣They flower for months
Hydrangeas provide beautiful colour in the garden right through the summer.

2️⃣They soften hard landscaping
They work beautifully alongside patios, paths and walls, helping the garden feel more relaxed and natural.

3️⃣They create impact quickly. Even relatively young plants can make a garden feel full and established.

This is a great time of year to tidy up hydrangeas before new spring growth begins.
