Pictured are Youghal librarians Marian O'Halloran, Carmel Murphy and Siobhán Lucey beside one of the archive photo displays at the archive Film and Photo exhibition held at the Youghal Library from the 27th Sept - 11th Oct. 2019. The exhibition launch be officially opened by Cllr Mary Linehan Foley on Friday 27 September at 4pm in the Youghal Library. - All welcome.
On display are some never before seen images from the making of the film Moby Dick back in the summer of 1954. Also archive photos of Youghal as well as film clips including a wonderful black and white scene of the front stand by Robert Shortall circa 1950. A clip of the metal boat the DeWadden which was a regular sight at the Youghal quayside and a short clip in colour of the making of Moby Dick at the Youghal quayside filmed by Seamus O'Mahony. A short film of behind the scenes of Moby Dick featuring the images taken by the James Burke. Please come along and enjoy this unique and nostalgic piece of Irish Film and Photo history.
