We’re delighted to see another of our regeneration projects receive the green light to begin on site in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim.

Commissioned by Leitrim County Council, this project focuses on the redevelopment of vacant buildings and underutilised backlands in the town centre. The scheme will deliver a new civic public space, enhanced river walks, and the revitalisation of a series of 200-year-old buildings through sensitive adaptive reuse.

Together, these interventions aim to breathe new life into the town centre, creating a vibrant and sustainable place for the community.

The initiative will see the development of a working hub and creative studios in the town centre, with the potential to create up to 40 jobs.

Where new and old merge in harmony and balance.
After countless hours, endless detailing and research backed up by excellent craftsmanship and trusting clients who understood our vision - the unassuming thatched cottage in Bundoran's East End is revived and once again provides a vital role in the heritage of the seaside town. On the opposite side the contemporary extension is surprising which engages its users and the public and allows the dwelling a unique character | www.mccabearchitects.ie

Big shout out to Proper Street Food for another unreal breakfast this morning! 🌟🍳 You never fail to sort us out.

We had two extra hungry mouths to feed today as our TY students, James and Benjamin, joined us for the week on work experience. Safe to say the “architects of the future” are off to a strong start… powered by sausages and rashers!

Planning approved! 🎉
We’re delighted to get the green light for this modern rear extension to a 100-year-old cottage in South Sligo. From the front, the cottage remains modest and traditional — but to the rear, a real surprise awaits: a bright, open-plan space on the sunny side of the house, opening out to stunning views of the rolling countryside. We're delighted for our clients and can’t wait to see this one come to life!

The SEED Project –
Redevelopment of the former Ritz Cinema, Ballybofey, County Donegal

Commissioned by Donegal County Council, McCabe Architects is delighted to share our design of the newly refurbished and extended former Ritz Cinema, Main Street, Ballybofey, County Donegal.

Our Design Team has been busy developing the design and preparing tender documentation, and the project is now at tender stage to secure a main contractor. Subject to a successful appointment, works are expected to commence in the near future.

Dating back to 1945, the Ritz Cinema SEED Project will involve the careful conservation of its distinctive mid-20th-century International Modern street façade, complemented by a new three-storey rear extension. This adaptive re-use development, when completed, will provide a vibrant Enterprise Hub, designed to support business growth and innovation.

This project aims to bring jobs, activity, and renewed ambition to the area and represents the first phase of a wider regeneration initiative, which will also include a new multi-storey car park and enhanced public realm works in Ballybofey.

Sneak Peek: New Housing Scheme in Sligo

We’re delighted to share an early look at a housing scheme we’ve designed for an infill site in Sligo. The proposal reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering thoughtful, high-quality homes that respond to their setting and the needs of communities.

With housing schemes currently underway for both private clients and local authorities across ten counties, 2026 is shaping up to be a busy year for McCabe Architects. Projects like this will, we hope, play a meaningful role in addressing Ireland’s current housing demand.

More to follow soon.
