Packaging waste negative by 2019.
Getting ready for another day at the market and as always asking, "How can we improve?". This is why I am happy to announce that Perennial Horticulture is committing to be packing waste negative by 2019.

How will this be achieved?

Beginning with the immediate upscaling of our own product production to purchase ratio and the implementation of reuse policies on plastic pots trays and outers in this production.

Introducing a return policy on all plastic pots trays and outers from products sold in our retail activities for reuse or recycling or appropriate disposal by December 2017.

The elimination of non recyclable and plastic carrier bags in our retailing activities in by January 2018.

The introduction of a return policy on all packaging from all products we sell in our retail activities for reuse, recycling or appropriate disposal by June 2018.

A commitment to implement a packaging return program which is capable of accommodating an additional 10% like for like recyclable packaging to that which we generate in our production and retailing activities by December 2018.

Do you read the label.

I hate to mention Christmas again so early, but berries are hitting the shelves every where. Great to brighten up the house and I love these Solanum Pesudocapsicum. then so does almost everybody until the kids or the dog sample a few. I will always make the point of saying it if a plant I sell is poisonous, but many sellers will expect you to read the label. My advice, if it looks like a child might take a bite, ask just to be safe.

Share this with anyone who you think might buy without looking.

I would like to thank Laura for her review of Atlantic Gold Seaweed Bath. When the guys at Atlantic Gold came to me and asked me to put this product on sale I nearly took there hand off. Over the last couple weeks I have been selling and collecting feedback, it has as expected been incredibly positive. With a new batch ordered and available at our stand in Herbert Park from Sunday 18th June, why not try it for your self. I personally promise you wont be disappointed.

No sooner is the March blog up giving warning about the unpredictability of early spring weather, a glance outside on Friday morning proves the point. Never the less the show must go on as new stock begins to arrive in to the market.

Our March blog is now up on perennial.ie, click the link below to see what needs to be done in the garden this month. I have also updated our at the market section new plant lists.

Unfortunately due to the harsh weather we have been unable to run our competition for Santa. Lost market days, letters lost to the wind and the move out of the courtyard for its renovation have all played their part in making this impossible. At the moment we are deciding how to proceed and will have more on this in the coming week.

Angela is out of the competition? Santa to the rescue!!!
In an unfortunate turn of events yesterday Angela has been forced to pull out of our competition after suffering a broken arm in an accident while making an appearance the market. On hearing the news Santa has volunteered to take her place and has promised some additional goodies in the sack for the final winner.

The game remains the same find the letters with the 2 digit code and when you have all the letters to spell "Santas Home" post them to me here. First to post the full correct code wins the prize.

Yesterdays Christmas launch was a great success and we have sold out of one item all ready. It's a bit of a surprise as I didn't expect this activity until after Halloween. This week will see a bit of a shake up as the council begin work on the courtyard so the stalls have to be shifted out to make way for the work. My stall will now be situated in the small courtyard at the back of the house with some other market favourites. I am also expecting some new goodies to be delivered in time Saturday. Watch this space to be the first to see them.
