Some jobs carry a bit more pressure than others. 😅

When Eddie asked us to replace gutters, fascia, and soffits that had been in place for 70 years, the team knew the standard had to match the wait.

Thank you, Eddie, for trusting us with your home — and well done to the crew for making it happen. This is what it's all about. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great news — there's now a standalone SEAI grant for windows and doors, and you don't need to do a full retrofit to get it. 🏠

Here's what's available: 🪟 Up to €4,000 for windows 🚪 Up to €800 per external door 🏡 Up to €5,600 total for a detached home

Your home needs to be built before 2011 and have adequate attic and wall insulation. If it doesn't, there are separate SEAI grants to help with that too.

Global Home Improvements is an SEAI-registered installer — we manufacture our windows and doors in our Glasnevin factory and back every install with a 20-Year Unlimited Guarantee. We'll guide you through the grant process from start to finish.

The biggest cost in home improvement is “Doing it twice.”

It happens more than you'd think. A homeowner goes with the cheapest quote or the budget product — and a couple of years later, they're back to square one. Warped cladding, cracked fascia, moisture creeping in behind boards that weren't built to last.

The "saving" ends up costing more than doing it properly would have in the first place.

That's exactly what this case study with our Quantity Surveyor Patricia Power shows. A roofline where cheaper materials had failed, rot had taken hold underneath, and the whole job needed to be done again from scratch — removal, timber treatment, full replacement.

If you're planning any external work on your home, it's worth understanding what you're actually paying for before you commit.

Energy bills are rising again in Ireland ⚡

Electricity prices are expected to go up by 4% to 9% from May or June 2026, and some suppliers are already announcing increases above that. For many households, that means higher bills on top of energy costs that are still far above pre-2022 levels.

It’s a reminder that energy costs are now being shaped by several factors at once — network charges, carbon tax, and ongoing pressure on the grid. If your home is older or harder to heat, you may feel it even more.

Their answers might surprise you — it wasn't just about the look. It was warmer rooms, quieter nights, lower bills, and finally feeling comfortable in every corner of their home.

Ireland’s housing market is still feeling the pressure in 2026 — with limited supply, rising demand, and construction costs continuing to influence decisions.

What we’re noticing is a big shift in mindset.

Instead of automatically moving home, more people are choosing to improve what they already have — extending, upgrading, and investing in the homes they’re in for the long term.

And honestly, it makes sense.

When buying and selling feels competitive and costly, improving your current space often becomes the smarter move.

We’re seeing homeowners focus on:
- Energy efficiency upgrades
- Extensions for growing families
- Structural improvements that add long-term value

Home improvement is no longer just maintenance — it’s strategy.

Are you seeing more people around you choosing to renovate instead of move?

We’re proud to be featured in The Irish Times Renovate supplement last month 🙌

One of the key takeaways from our MD, Barry Shevlin in the article:

👉 Your home works as a system.

Improving insulation alone isn’t enough if your windows and doors are still letting heat escape. Everything needs to work together to really feel the difference.

It’s advice we give homeowners every day — and it’s great to see it being shared on a national level.

Have you started planning any upgrades this year?
