Garden lighting is one of the most important factors when considering garden design. It adds a new dimension in the form of usability in the nocturnal hours. There are many effects that can be created when using garden lighting, including; Uplighting, Downlighting, Washing, Shadowing, Crossing, Safety, Aquatic, Security, to name a few. At Landscaping.ie we only install low voltage LED systems, insuring long life and safety for children and animals. The power output of 12V lighting is tiny making it affordable. Our lighting installs are also user friendly allowing the client the freedom to add, move, change lights within our installs. We only use warm white and take care not to affect surrounding wildlife.

Privacy and space are very important factors within any garden setting. Wall extensions are a great, go to for both. Wall extensions provide instant screening while taking up little space.
We use planed pressure treated Scandinavian Spruce for all our wall extensions.
The pressure treated insures long life. The planed allows for easy adhesion of paint.
The Spruce is a slow growing softwood again insuring long life.
When planning, it's important to consider wind exposure. Extensions can act like a sail so permeability, to wind is important.

Gravel Driveway, Rathfarnham, Co Dublin. The client had already started her herbaceous border earlier in the year. My brief was to create a driveway with wheelchair access and a traditional feel.
The new driveway included: Staggered path using 600x600x30 & 900x600x30mm Oatmeal granite slabs, Oatmeal kerbs to border the herbaceous border laid in an angular pattern and on the flat, Small upper seating area to catch evening sun, Gravel core matting for stability on a slope and reduction of water runoff, 200x100x40mm double cobble run defining entrance and bed to the left and 14mm Gold flinth gravel to finish.
The clients were very happy with the results kindly posting a five star Google review.

Patios are one of the most important factors when completing a landscape design. The patio must be in proportion with the garden and linked to the house. Other factors to consider when deciding a patio, include: Type of stone, Contemporary of traditional, Manmade or traditional stone, Dense or porous, If porous stone needs sealing, Weight for the patio to bear, Aspect, Shape, Colour, Size of slab, Raised or level, Contrasting surrounds, Seating, Total size, Contemporary or traditional feel, Drainage, Steps, Soldier square on square or mixed sized layout, Grouting, Colour of grouting, Sub-base preparation, Fall.
We always try to send the water away from the house. If this is not possible ACO drains are installed and connected to existing gully outlets.
Preparation and grouting are the key to a long life.

Low Maintenance Contract, Bray, Co Wicklow. A complete overhaul of small garden. The project included: New silver granite entertainment area, Raised silver granite kerb beds, New 4x1 cladding painted in Ronseal 'Slate', Custom built Baumanns 6x4 garden shed painted in Ronseal 'Cornflower' with white door and trims, Evergreen planting with 2 Acer 'Sangu-Kaku' balancing shed, Low voltage garden uplighters and downlighters, Trellis sections painted in 'Cornflower' to soften cladding/create foil for garden lights, Prepared lawn area.
Unable to complete lawn due to hose ban, will return in September/October, weather permitting.

Client very happy with his new garden, kindly posting the following 5 star review:

"Kevin was a pleasure to work with - very professional, knowledgeable with a great eye to adapt as required . We are delighted with the final results and recommend him unreservedly."

This was a difficult build due to access. We first came through the neighbours for excavations while on holidays. The rest was completed by accessing through the house.

Low maintenance Gardens. More and more we are being asked to install low maintenance gardens. Many people are just too busy to find time to tend to a garden during their down time. We have many tools to achieve low maintenance gardens, including: Fencing instead of hedging, Synthetic grass or gravel instead of grass, Dense paving instead of porous, 3:1 sand and cement pointing (Never Rompox), Plant selection that will not out grow their space, Geo-textile matting to suppress weeds, Quality paint, Acrylic rendering, Imported pressure treated Scandinavian Spruce timber, Unrippable polyester felt on all our sheds and low voltage garden lighting with long life LED bulbs. We no longer install decking due to their life span. At Landscaping.ie you are gauranteed a quality low maintenance garden.

Gravel Driveway, Bushy Park Road, Rathfarnham, Co Dublin.
Removal of all existing split granite cobbles and replacing with tumbled silver granite cobbles. Definition was created by installing a treble cobble border, 2 at ground level and one raised. More parking was made available by removal of existing planted beds, reducing maintenance. New beds were planted with Taxus baccata hedge with Hydrangea 'Annabelles behind, a classic Edwardian scheme in keeping with house. Low voltage garden lighting was strategically placed throughout. Gravel used and topped up was Golden flinth. Very impressed with this gravel with all it's golden hues and angular self compacting nature. A blinding layer of ballylusk dust was laid beneath. The client was very happy with the result, kindly posting the following 5 star review:
"Can’t recommend Kevin highly enough. He completely transformed the front of our house. A beautiful gravel driveway. A true master craftsman".

Landscaping Contract, Bray, Co Wicklow. Low maintenance garden utilising every inch of space. We re-did the surrounds with horizontal cladding creating instant privacy. A 6x4 Baumanns garden shed was the main feature painted in blue with white surrounds. Silver granite patio, granite raised beds, hardy planting with garden lights strategically placed throughout. Very difficult job, as no side passage with access through house.
