Delighted to show these beautiful photos of a very comprehensive Deep Retrofit project we designed for a young family.

A terraced house dating from the late 1800’s, it was in need of complete upgrade. We replaced the rear return on the house with a white brick and standing-seam zinc roof extension, doubling it in size.

Small courtyards form important lightwells which, together with large linear rooflights, bring light deep into the middle of the north facing rear of the home.

Now highly insulated and airtight to a level of q50 of 2.9m3/hr/m2, a significant achievement for a house of this age, and critically important due to the seafront exposure 🌊 .

Most importantly, the house still holds its original character. A really lovely project to work on ✨ 👷🏻‍♀️

Few and far posts recently due to the ☔️!

Lovely to see blue sky on site today, not to be wading through mud, and to see this project take shape.

Recent project completion, a light-filled brick extension to an Edwardian property.

The original kitchen was dark and constrained, with no view to the sunlight or garden beyond (swipe to the end to see ‘before’).

Creating daylight-filled spaces is central to our design ethos. Letting light into the right areas is the starting point for all our projects.

Beautifully built and finished, and nearly identical to our original design draft, this house and family can enjoy both sunlight and garden now, all day long - and they can breathe!
