Tapering towards the end of Mental Health Month, we reflect on the brief as we look inside our recently completed Community Dwellings in Pallasgreen, in Co. Limerick.
Extracts from the Brief:
Design Strategy
A degree of innovative thinking and clever design will be required to optimize the space allocations and to provide flexibility in function and space, with simplified circulation and easy access.
Operational Policy
The houses should provide for residents, some of whom will have intellectual and physical disabilities, a secure and comfortable home in the community. Each house will consist of 4 no. ensuite bedrooms and 1nr main wetroom. Consideration will be given in the design to allow wide corridors and good circulation spaces without obstructions (doors etc.) is therapeutic and calming for residents. Social and dining facilities will be provided in the form of a kitchen, dining room, living room and a separate visitors room.
