Homely Natural Solutions Ltd. Complimenting your home with Canopies/Verandas

Sometimes you spend years learning how to build things, solve problems and work with your hands… and then someone tells you to make an aesthetic video for social media.🥶

Safe to say we’re much better with aluminium, tools and construction drawings than trending transitions.

Still, this is our version of aesthetic content. Built by hand, filmed between jobs, and probably approved by every Irish handyman who’d rather be working than posing for the camera.

Not perfect. Just real.🔥👑

Most people think privacy means building higher fences or adding solid walls, but the best outdoor spaces don't feel closed in.✨

A combination of strategic planting, decorative screens, outdoor blinds and smart furniture placement can create privacy while keeping your space bright, open and connected to the garden. The goal isn't to block the outside world - it's to create a space that feels comfortably yours. Because a great veranda isn't just about shelter from the weather. It's about creating somewhere you genuinely want to spend time.

What's more important in your garden: privacy, shelter or natural light?😎

Turn your patio into the perfect BBQ haven. 🍖

A great BBQ is about more than just the food. It is about the atmosphere, the comfort, and the company. But when your outdoor space is exposed to sun, smoke, and unpredictable weather, it is hard to relax and enjoy it.

That is exactly why Homely Natural Solutions builds custom aluminium canopies and verandas for Irish homeowners. Our structures are designed to shelter your cooking and dining area so every gathering feels effortless.

Sheltered. Stylish. Built for Irish weather.

Whether you are planning a summer cookout or a cosy autumn evening outside, a bespoke canopy gives you the freedom to use your garden on your terms, not the weather's.

Most veranda conversations don’t start with design.

They start with questions.

Will it make the house darker?
Will rain on glass be noisy?
Can Irish weather damage it?
Can I add blinds later?
Will it add value to my property?

They’re all reasonable concerns when you’re making a long-term investment in your home.

A well-designed aluminium veranda isn’t about creating another room. It’s about creating a sheltered outdoor space that’s more usable throughout the year, even in Irish conditions.

The best projects start with understanding the realities, not just admiring the finished photos.

Have a question about verandas, glass roofs or outdoor living in Ireland? Leave it below and we’ll answer it.

You don’t really buy a structure like this for summer, Ireland gives you a few good weeks every year for free. You build something like this for everything outside of that.😅

For the evenings when the rain starts unexpectedly but nobody wants to go inside yet. For the mornings when the garden finally becomes usable more than just two months a year. For the feeling that your home suddenly works differently — calmer, bigger, more connected to outside life without fully depending on the weather.

That is why so many homeowners in Galway are rethinking how they use their outdoor space.👌

Because a properly designed veranda or outdoor structure does not just change the garden. It changes how often you actually use your home.😏

And once people experience that, they rarely want to go back.

Most Irish homes already have outdoor space, but the problem is that it is not always usable.

Too much rain. Too much wind. Too many days where the garden looks nice from the window, but does not feel comfortable enough to actually sit in.🌬

That is where a veranda changes the way your home works. Not by turning your garden into a fully insulated room. Not by pretending Irish weather disappears, but by creating a sheltered outdoor area that gives you more control over how you use the space beside your home.

A porch protects an entrance. A veranda protects a lifestyle pattern: morning coffee outside, kids playing under cover, dry access to the garden, a more comfortable seating area, a place that still works when the weather is not perfect.🥰

At Homely Natural Solutions, our custom verandas are designed around real Irish conditions. Rain direction, wind exposure, drainage, roof material, glazing, airflow and long-term durability all matter before the structure ever looks beautiful.

Because the real question is not “Do I want a veranda?”
It is “How much of my outdoor space am I actually using right now?”🫰

Today Galway decided to surprise us with actual summer weather, so naturally we used the opportunity to test one of the things our clients ask about all the time — glass roof blinds on a veranda.

And honestly… verdict approved.

One thing people often underestimate with glass verandas in Ireland is how quickly a space can warm up during sunny days, especially when the glass area is larger and south-facing. That’s why we always say a good outdoor structure is not only about rain protection — it’s also about controlling comfort during changing weather conditions.

We try to test as many solutions as possible ourselves before recommending them to clients, because real experience always matters more than brochure promises.

And after today’s “heatwave” by Galway standards — glass roof blinds are definitely something we would highly recommend for added comfort and light control.

🤫Most people start with the obvious questions when buying a veranda: how much does it cost, how big can it be, what colour will it be and how quickly can it be installed.

Those questions matter, but in Irish conditions they are not the questions that decide whether your veranda will still feel like a good decision after a few seasons.

The better questions are usually quieter and far more practical. Where will the water go during heavy rain? How will wind-driven rain behave around the open sides? Will there be enough airflow to manage condensation? Is the foundation strong enough for the structure, glazing, movement and long-term use? And most importantly, what should still be working properly after five Irish winters?

This is why we don’t look at a veranda as just a nice glass structure attached to a house. We look at how it will behave in real weather, with real rain, real wind, real moisture and real everyday use, because a veranda should not only look good on installation day. It should make sense years later.

Which question would you ask first before investing in a veranda: water, wind, airflow, foundation, or long-term performance?👀

This is your sign to rethink that veranda you’ve wanted for so long.👑

Not because it looks good on sunny days, but because a well-designed veranda completely changes how a home works in real Irish weather. More shelter. More comfort. More use from the space you already have.

The important part is not just adding a roof. It is understanding drainage, wind exposure, condensation, and how the structure behaves long term in Irish conditions.

That is why we focus less on “garden upgrades” and more on outdoor spaces that still work properly five winters later.

If you are still exploring ideas, that is usually the best place to start.♥️
