Workshops in 2016 at Scariff Community Garden
Learn to grow & eat the tastiest foods that have no chemicals added
from your own garden, patio or windowsill
These introductory workshops will teach, demonstrate & practice various aspects
of growing your own harvest using organically approved methods throughout the season

February Crop planning – families, rotation, soil preparation, fertility sources
March Plant propagation – sowing techniques, cuttings, division
April The ‘big 4’ – potatoes, alliums, umbellifers & brassicas
May A harvest on your windowsill – growing in containers
June Growing in a polytunnel – tender crops (eg. Tomatoes, cucumbers etc)
July Plant protection – managing pests, diseases & weeds naturally
August Salads & herbs – growing & using
September Winter harvest – sowing & growing overwinter
October Preserving your harvest – storage methods, pickles & chutneys
November Preparing the garden for winter – soil protection, fertility building
December Fruit from an Irish Garden – types, variety selection, planting & pruning
1 Friday morning per month: 10am – 1pm
11 sessions – €100 (paid before 26th February)
Or €110 (€60 before session 1 & €50 by 8th April)
