Window placement can often reduce storage. I like this solution with a monopitched roof that creates high level windows. However, I think it would be better visually with them on the back wall, under the window, only. I don't like when they return on the side walls, as the ceiling slopes down towards them.
Maybe that doesn't bother anyone else 😏.

I gave a talk yesterday at ICON plc, a company based in Limerick, entitled 'Would you like a home that quietly improves your life?'
I believe that health starts in the home, and the type of home we create has an impact on our health.
Do you think about the light in your home, the air quality, the materials that it's made of, the spaces for movement and for restoration? If this interests you, please keep following?

Funny how what speaks to us in or homes isv what we see around us in nature.

A 'similar' design can sometimes be 'spot off'. It's a question of proportion 😏

Having to stop, in this case waiting for roadside assistance, is an opportunity to look around. I love the juxtaposition of pink gate and pink blossom beside the white walls.

These houses in Portobello, D8, caught my eye, for their pleasing brickwork. Personally, I'd prefer a smaller house (nearly all these houses are single storey, with a small footprint) that is beautiful, rather than more space that's indifferent. But that's just me...

Rainwater goods (gutters, downpipes) - and yes, that snow will become water - are not an afterthought. They need to be placed in at the start, to avoid a situation like this photo, where the downpipe wobbles around the windows, detracting from the look of the building.

Sometimes, rolling with the weather is the sensible thing to do. It can be easy to get frustrated with not getting out, but I quite like a bit of forced confinement (I hope I didn't have to eat those words!), when options are limited.
I love writing or doodling at times like this, no pressure to be doing other things that can't be done anyway.
And I love the small, Zen studio where I stay. It always gives me a great view of snow!

For a bit of fun, I gave AI my photo and information about the practice, Studiomove Architects, and my course, The Beautiful Home Blueprint.
Despite the photo and many prompts, it wouldn't make me older than about 25.

Give it a try for your work!

A roof might not seem a particularly interesting part of your house - you don't see much of it when you step inside your front door - but it protects you from the elements.
And the challenges are quite different according to location.
The Alpine roofs have huge timbers to take the weight of snow build up over time. Clearing roofs is done during the winter season, but only when weather permits - and right now, it doesn't.
So I'm looking upwards, and avoiding the interesting overhangs that have formed on the surrounding roofs, shaped by snowfall and wind. There is a lot of weight in them, if they slip.
