Wonderful talk given last night by Sean O'Gaoithin on how and why we should all be trying to encourage bio-diversity into our approach to gardening. Not only helping the planet but also our own lives, and the lives and spirits of those gone and those yet to come.

Donegal Garden Society's next meeting is on the 11th May and the guest speaker will be
Sean O'Gaoithin giving a talk he's called
'Angels and wee folk inhabiting our gardens'
Sounds very magical.
Sean O'Gaoithin is the head gardener at Glenveagh so he's well placed to talk about wee folk.
All welcome, non members pay €5 at the door which includes homemade cakes, tea, coffee and good company.

Dont know about you but I thought that even without our speaker for the night Klaus Laitenburger who was unfortunatley taken ill, it was an enjoyable evening filled with good cheer and gardening tales.
Klaus will still be coming up to give his talk and dates will be posted.

The next meeting on the 13th April will feature Carl Wright, 'Between a Rock and a Hard Place' which is somewhere between the Devil and the deep blue sea. ;-)

He designed and build Caher Bridge Garden in Clare. Looks beautiful.
All Welcome

Well tonight is the night, Klaus Laitenburger will be speaking at tonight's meeting.
Well worth attending and he might persuade more of us to grow our own delicious veggies and fruit trees alongside those beautiful flowers.

I think we all enjoyed last nights event, everybody was very industrious and absorbed in transforming some very curious and unlikely containers into pots to hold some beautiful and interesting combinations of plants.
Every one of them will enhance the garden but the member awarded the most points by everyone who took part was Kay Lattimore, with a very unusual and artistic piece of pottery set with herbs.
Well done Kay.
We'll be meeting after a wonderful and productive summers gardening in September.
And thanks John for sending me your photos of the night.

Dont know what variety these are but they are so enjoyable, and the bees just love them.

Our last meeting - Gardeners question time - was not only very informative but very amusing.

Next meeting is on the 9th June, and its a bring a pot night.
Grab your wackyist, funnyist, inspired or just the first object you lay your hand on and bring it down on the night to transform it into a beautiful flower container....

Also bring compost with you, and off course some plants.

The Rhododendrons are just starting to come out.
Send in any photos you take of them as the blooms take over for a brief time. I know they've can take over, and I hear that some varieties are spreading disease to trees, but I cant help enjoying the colours.
