This week, the battery-storage story gets very close to home.

A 170 MW / 680 MWh battery project in County Kerry has been acquired by Capital Dynamics. The Knockanure project already has planning permission and is expected to be one of Ireland's first long-duration energy-storage projects.

Meanwhile, the UK has launched a £28 million programme to develop technologies capable of storing clean electricity for 100 hours or more.

And battery storage is increasingly moving beyond enormous grid projects.

UK households are installing solar and batteries at record levels, while Scottish Water is combining almost 2,000 solar panels with battery storage to meet around half of the electricity demand at one wastewater facility.

The message is becoming clear:
Energy storage is no longer simply backup power.
It's becoming part of the way we generate, manage and consume electricity.
