Two weeks to go until Earth Building UK and Ireland's Clayfest 2018 kicks off at The Irish National Heritage Park. Hands-on workshops, international conference and tours - with big names such as Bill and Athena Steen from Arizona and Tom Woolley, author of Natural Building. This is a great idea and a great service. Bring your sub-soil samples along. Make sure you dig deep enough to get below the top soil - there should be no organic materials (roots, humus, beasties), no loamy smell and often you will see a significant change in colour and texture. And remember - your sample must be the correct size (see original post) and dry. See you at Clayfest!

If you're on a workshop at Clayfest this year why not bring along a sample of your material and our partners in the CobBauge Project can take a thermal image of it for you to see how it meets the regs. They're going to do a pop-up talk on Thursday 27th and we will be building a demo wall showing some results of the project. Samples need to be 300m x 300mm x 50mm, smooth on one side and dry...

We had a ball at The Secret Village Festival.Hidden in Ballaghderreen, Co. Roscommon's secret woodlands, this has to be the most magical setting for any festival in Ireland. And the lads make it look beautiful. A brilliant place for discovering lots of new music. Thanks to Barra, Mick and Andy for a fabulous festival. And a nod to Dan, who kept the coffee shop rocking (or chilling) around the clock!
