What a weekend 🌞

I finally got to get to my allotment in now that the rain has eased. It was a scorcher of a day and I was delighted to get the ground ready for the growing season ahead!

I hope you all enjoyed some time in your growing spaces 🌱

And so it begins! Just kicked off my planting journey with the first batch of seeds, and guess what's up first, tomatoes! πŸ…

After growing over 50 varieties last year, I've decided to scale things down a bit (just ignore the extra seed packets in the photo πŸ™ˆ).

Using my shiny new propagators from these seeds are finding their cozy spots in the reliable seed trays from and which are designed to fit perfectly into the propagator.

Who else has kicked off their growing season? Drop a comment below and let me know what you've sown! 🌱

🌱 Garlic 🌱

Last October, I was sent some elephant garlic from the kind people at
I planted it in my greenhouse to keep the soil biology ticking over instead of having empty beds in there. Today, I went inside to check on it and remove any weeds that may have popped up. It's flying along!

Elephant garlic is lovely and gets to a really big size. You'll see some in my earlier posts if you want to check the end result out.

Have you grown garlic this winter? Let me know below how it's growing 🌱

🌱🌱 It's almost time for the leeks to be harvested 🌱🌱

What a beautiful evening to stroll around my garden. The leeks are almost bursting out of the ground, begging to be picked. I'm tempted to grab them now, but I'll let them grow a bit more.

I use a hand fork or garden fork to loosen the soil before lifting leeks. But where the soil is loose, you can harvest leeks by hand by gently twisting and pulling them from the soil.

I'll be harvesting these guys and soon sowing new ones for next year 🌱

Do you want to enjoy some delicious rhubarb desserts before spring arrives?
Then you should try this simple gardening hack: forcing rhubarb! 🌱

All you need is a large container to cover the rhubarb crowns and block out the light. This will make them grow faster and produce tender, sweet stalks in just a few weeks. πŸ˜‹

It's a great way to start the gardening season and treat yourself to some homemade tarts, jams, and more. πŸ₯§

Have you ever tried forcing rhubarb? Or know some nice things to use it with Let me know in the comments! 😊🌱
