Long story short: life has thrown a curve ball and it's making me slow down.
I'm struggling to find the motivation and energy to work on big ideas and plans for my fibre art. So I'm accepting it's a slower season for now while home life is my main focus.
Workshops are a go and the shop is always open. But I'll probably show up less here and won't be committing to big shows etc.
〰️ I promise to keep weaving. 〰️

E x h i b i t i o n; In Glorious Technicolour

For Made in Wicklow's second Powerscourt exhibition I was lucky enough to create a piece inspired by this stunning costume Bella Baxter, played by Emma Stone, wore in the tragic opening scene.

When I first saw this costume I was taken in by the beautifully rich colour and I knew I would love creating something based on this. When looking at the details the reptilian sleeve really stood out and I was inspired to recreate this using softer materials like wool.
But it didn't feel right to focus solely on the material side of this costume. Bella wore this when she attempted to end her life by jumping off a bridge. The fringe of this piece represents the dark, tangled, deep, messy waters she threw herself into, not knowing what lies 'Beneath The Surface'.

Exhibition openings Saturday 14th February for two weeks with free entry!

This piece is available for purchase at the exhibition and on the website. It can be shipped after 1st March.

Typical behaviour.
But, now I have light! (Wait for me to start giving out when it's too bright and warm).
Also the piece is finished! Installing tomorrow in Powerscourt for exhibition number 2; In Glorious Technicolour!

Hand, Heart & Hands exhibition runs until 8th February at Powerscourt House.
I spent the morning at Powerscourt and even though I've been a member of Made In Wicklow since 2023 I am still blown away by the amazing things created in County Wicklow!
Make sure to pop in to admire the talent in this exhibition.

~ REACHING OUT ~

Yesterday I brought this new piece to Powerscourt for the Head, Heart & Hands exhibition with Made in Wicklow opening on Saturday.

The Head, Heart and Hands showcase is a vibrant celebration of our county’s exceptional craft talent. Running throughout the month of February and beginning over the St. Brigid’s Day weekend, this exhibition highlights the deep connection between Wicklow’s cultural heritage and the modern creativity of its craftspeople.

This free exhibition offers a unique opportunity for the public to engage with the work of 41 talented practitioners represented on the Made in Wicklow platform. The showcase features a stunning array of works across diverse disciplines, including ceramics, textiles, woodcraft, jewellery, and metalwork. Located in the historic Entrance Hallway of Powerscourt House, Enniskerry the exhibition serves as a comprehensive look at the skill and dedication of the makers who define the Garden County’s creative landscape. Visitors are invited to explore these high-quality, hand-crafted pieces in a setting that perfectly mirrors the elegance and tradition of the crafts on display.
