Dating back to the time post-independence, Ahmedabad had been a commonplace for intellectuals and visionaries who have been facilitators of establishing ambitious public maneuvers. The involvement of a ‘Designer’ within this process has been of a nature that is not unknown to us. As a result, the modernist marvel that we know Ahmedabad is, has attracted unlimited talent keeping its creative spirit alive throughout all these years.
For the confluence this year, the spotlight shifted to the public realm, we wanted to bring forward efforts undertaken by the architects from the city in order to serve a community and further - architecture that goes beyond the brief. We opened a discourse on “an architect and their role in the ‘public’.”
The exhibition manifested in diverse formats, one of which showcased the works of 29 practices rooted in the city, in line with the theme. Beyond this visual presentation, it was important to interlace discourses and data that function as apt catalysts in achieving a comprehensive understanding of the theme. This materialized through various platforms, including Talks, Panel discussions, Workshops, and similar forums collectively placed to conduct relevant discussions and highlight important questions.
