Repurpose Découpage RePURPOSE takes the old, the familiar, the sentimental and the whimsical and breathes new and joy-filled purpose into them.

Using a French art technique called decoupage, the artist has created beautiful pieces of objects that might otherwise have been thrown away. About the Artist
Joanna Williams is a Chennai-based artist and designer. For over 20 years, Joanna has worked as a graphic designer, designing logos and publications. With a background in fine arts, Joanna also paints with water colours, oils and acrylics. H

aving recently studied the French art of decoupage, she was drawn to its classic philosophy of making something new out of something old. She says, “the story behind Repurpose unfolded as I studied and practiced decoupage, I began to see how art with care and insight could make the ordinary extraordinary. If art could do such things, I realised that I, a crusader for women’s empowerment, could look for ways in which I can help young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds find a renewed purpose for their lives in spite of the tough circumstance they began in.”
