The first bridge of the Skywalk starts from a small platform 2m off the floor, and climbs to 3.7m. The bridge itself is built on 4 cables (2 lower cables, which acacia decking was layed onto) and two upper cables which serve as hand rails. 2x2 inch acacia posts connect lower to upper cables and onto those posts we used long lengths of split bamboo to build the walls of the bridge🎍

Skywalk photos 6 & 7.

One of the 4 way (Petzl) pulleys which helped us pull the cable bridge up between the two trees. As we didn't have a winch available, a system of 3 pulleys and 10 people pulling with all their might got the bridge up 14 metres off the ground.

- Skywalk 4 & 5 of 10... Once the cable bridge was pulled up, we had to scoot along ropes which were installed between the two trees and space out all the components of the bridge so that we could lay the decking and railings. Here's two more shots of Pedro sorting his ropes out (swipe left!)

- Here it is, the last bridge of the skywalk (a slightly blurry shot taken from a treehouse some 25 metres away). You can just make out how the bridge was designed with a gradual increase in the height of the two upper cables towards the end (you can see the hand rail prices ascending in height) As the bridge was 11 metres long, this design was essential to give sufficient support to the centre of the bridge.

Brazilian master climber Pedro, floating on a line half way along the Skywalk, demonstrating his ease of work as he's 14 metres above the forest floor in his flip-flops! Built this canopy walkway with the treehouse community earlier in the year. Stay tuned for more aboreal construction photos from the Skywalk series.
