Happy first day of the year folks! 2023 is already here and I can't believe how fast the days passed. Still feel like I'm in 2013 😋🤭

These are Topsy Turvy or Echeveria Runyonii, yet another favourite of mine. Yes every plant is my favourite plant and I have a huge issue.

Moving on, I don't have any clever stories about this plant. Just that they love the Sun and like other succulents will not need a lot of attention. They're so easy to grow. I fertilize them in the growing season. Water them only after they've completely dried out. I've never seen them bloom. Hopefully these will. And hopefully soon 😁

Some of my hibiscus 🌺

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, who hasn't seen this plant? We used to have varieties of them everywhere, in every house. Mums and aunts used to exchange cuttings and grow different colors and pollinate flowers to make yet another different colored flower. I have so many memories connected with this flower/plant. All my childhood, picking the flowers for pooje and taking them to temple, plucking leaves for haircare along with spent flowers from the pooja room. Putting the colorful flowers on all the door frames. I even vaguely remember an ayurvedic lesson on hibiscus and making tea. What fun times!

Now I only have about 15 different colors of hibiscus and only want more of them. They're so easy to grow, they don't need any special kind of soil. They grow so well in garden soil and even in cocopeat. They just need to be watered well. They don't like to dry out too much. I like to fertilize my plants every other week. And water them everyday. They love the Sun, so grow them in full Sun and they'll flourish and bloom for you. I also like to trim back any unfertilized flowers and damaged leaves and also some branches every now and then to encourage more growth and branching.

If you're planning to pollinate your flowers, do it as early as possible(true for all flowers). The earlier, the more chances of successful pollination. Flowers are not only beautiful to look at but have so many beneficial properties and are used in ayurveda. I think one post isn't enough to talk about hibiscus! Will do so again soon. This plant is called an Adenium or Desert Rose. Not very sure of the proper id 🪪. I got this little fellow from a local nursery back in 2018. That too during the rainy season! He was completely drenched and in the wrong kind of soil. I'm glad he's still alive today 😅🤭 Because I didn't know how to care for him or what conditions he liked to grow either. After tons of research and adjustments, now he's a healthy bonsai in a tiny pot. Will share his current picture soon. I call him little Twinky with love. Yes! All my plants have names.. I love them all equally but differently for different reasons ❤️🥰

Anyway, coming back to Twinky, he needed a friend so I got him another Adenium, this time an Adenium Arabicum from another local nursery and she's thriving too.. And then I saw Adeniums from and then .1292 very recently. Uuufff!! They're more gorgeous than I thought 😍 I acquired different varieties from Nisha(also got a tiny little one as a gift from her; so I can watch him grow) and got one as a gift from Archit. I can't thank these two enough for my Adenium craze!

Moss-Rose Purslane or Portulaca Grandiflora. I've always loved them, they make such beautiful colorful flowers and are so easy to maintain! I mean you don't have to do anything. They just keep growing! Got this bunch of them from and they're just starting to flower one by one! Thanks Manoj ❤️🤗
The orange is from my older bunch of moss roses.

Today I was walking in my garden as usual and I noticed this new flower and had to capture and share it because of its size 😂😅
It is super tiny. I don't know what made it so small but I'm enjoying it's beauty 😍😍
Look at the size of the orange and then the pink! Why are you so tiny? Tiny dancer 🤭🤭

Anyway I'll look forward to more blooms from this bunch and I shall also share the developments. Thank you for reading!

Gymnocalycium baldianum with buds! I'm screaming inside, eeeehhhhhh! This bud has been forming for a week now and I've been admiring it everyday but today I saw another little growth and inspected further and it's another bud! Yay! This makes me happier and happier.

And I carried on everyday watching and documenting the journey of the bud till it flowered. And here are a few pictures.

This was the sweet potato yield from my little garden early this year. I was thoroughly surprised by the sheer size of them potatoes.🤭 I got a little cutting from a neighbour wanting to experiment, the little cutting rooted without any problems. And kept spreading everywhere. Literally! Having never grown sweet potatoes, I didn't know what to expect. Just solely relying on the internet for all the information, I pressed on. Cut off some of the overgrown vines when they started overtaking the whole garden. Gave them a lot of water. Prayed they'll make some potatoes. Within no time they started to bloom and I was fortunate enough to grow this huge lot. Anyway, one day when I was doing my morning garden chores, I saw something peeking through the ground. Could it be? A potato? A sweet potato? I threw some water on it, it was purple! It was a sweet potato! I tried to move it, excited if I could eat it yet.🤭 It wasn't too big and it didn't really move. It's pretty stuck in there. I told myself to have a little patience and moved on. I could see the top part of the potato getting bigger and bigger and couldn't wait to harvest. Day after day more blooms and more potato heads peeping from the ground. And we finally harvested our lot after Sankranti. I think about 4-5 months after planting the cutting. I couldn't have asked for a better yield. Now that I know a little better, maybe I can make it better this time? Fingers crossed I guess! 🤞🏽

Hello people! I'm Navya, a plant enthusiast, plant lover, and plant mother.. Would love to have/collect all the plants on Earth, whether big or small. I have always loved plants, watching them grow.. I started growing vegetables and fruits and then started doing more research on various kinds of plants. Got a moon cactus and killed it in a few months. Got an Adenium bonsai, loved seeing it grow. Got more flowering plants, then I got some fruit plants. Then a friend gave me a few succulents and I got hooked. I got more succulents and more cacti and more cacti and more succulents.. and so on and so forth for a bit. But then I saw different varieties of plants and I couldn't stop myself. Now everybody knows what my new addiction is 😂🤣 I just gotta have all them plants (hahaha the evil laugh) I collect wild seeds from everywhere I go. Along with some pups maybe a little moss and more wild samples 😋🤭 I love watching every one of these fascinating things grow up from seeds ever so slowly but so beautifully until they form these little buds and bloom, forming a fruit or a seed pod. Well anyway, I have been growing plants for a while now and would like to share my journey of making a little Earth 🌍 for myself. I welcome any suggestions on plant care. Feel free to ask me any questions you have too and I'll answer them to the best of my knowledge. I welcome plant swaps, seed swaps and plant sales. I'll also put up any plants I have for sale.
