~The Warm Wild~ Our bodies love being outdoors. A natural environment stimulates one’s senses. We become bare to nature’s fresh scents, calming sounds, textures and vivid colours. The wilderness moves us, to remember our kernel of existence. The ~living room~ at Estate Plavu is concepted from bringing the outdoor in; ceiling to floor transparent windows & doors, allowing through maximum natural light with a seamless view of the forested landscape. The wooden composition is stark combined with the coarseness of unfinished stone walls and surfaces. A solid block of wood is carved artistically to form a colossal centrepiece for utility. The wall hanging, almost miss-able is a humble yet stunning creation from just dry foliage of trees, jute cloth and wooden sticks, hand-put together.

: "𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝙖 𝙁𝙖𝙧𝙢", 𝙆𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙠𝙖𝙡, 𝙋𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙮 >>

◾The residence is situated in a quite village called kurumbagaram, southern Tamilnadu

◾Its a vacation home for the client to get away from the hustle of urban life

◾The house is nestled in Centre of sandalwood trees., fruit, orchard and paddy fields💚💚

◾The Design Philosophy is a mix between rustic themes based on the idea of living with nature

◾In interiors a simple colour palette of black & white🖤❣

Location: coorg, karnataka📍

👉Description by designer:

◾Re-imagining the concept of a “Museum” by adopting local design sensibilities.

◾Conveying the history of coffee and the culture of the dominant Kodava community, the Sidapur Coffee Museum is designed keeping in mind the spirit and culture of the land.

◾The most interesting feature of the museum is the innovative lighting design made out of Eucalyptus poles - the native vernacular version of “track lights”. These accent lights are embedded into the poles, providing the flexibility of moving them around to adjust the focus on different objects.

◾Inspired by the traditional Kodava Ainmanes of Coorg, the space is crafted with rustic natural materials including a high thatched roof, red oxide floor, lime-washed walls, wood and jute.

◾Artifacts sourced from local homes sit on traditional shelves made of live-edge wood that are hoisted with rope and metal hooks. A thoughtfully designed divider crafted from thick intertwined coir separates the information panels that rest on backgrounds of burlap. Large, dented copper and brass vessels of different shapes line the walls of the museum, each whispering their unique stories.

◾With an interplay of light, form, textures and artifacts, this unique museum portrays the ways of life that have now been replaced with the onset of modernity.

Sublime Alcoves

Envisioned as mesmeric nooks, the panoramic ‘bay windows’ reflect meticulous craft and signature artisanship. Imagined to be a world of one’s own, the immersive sanctum ensures that only nature’s euphony breaks through the silence.

Exquisitely finished with live-edge wood, the viewing suite bestows awe-inspiring vistas of the wilderness. Enlivened by the hues of nature, the secluded seaters are handcrafted with distinct batten doors, iron rivets, upcycled k***s, and wicker baskets.

Muted tones of tailored natural fabric accentuate the scatter cushions, elevating the ‘sublime experience’ where escapism is the main objective.

Vijayanagara empire! Portraying historical elegance and ancient luxury, every space carefully designed and crafted with antique elements and intricate ornamentation, convey Hampi’s rich history. Rough granite flooring, self-coloured vine inlays and wooden furniture inset with brass, highlight the courtly style of architecture of the period. An in-room whirlpool bath overlooking a private terrace is inspired by the ancient bathing experience - a dip fit for a queen! Muted colours, motifs and wall detailing inspired by the ruins, permeate every space providing a spatial experience that transports you back in time.

◾The villa features two distinct design styles. The ground floor predominantly showcases contemporary elements while the first floor channels a country cottage air. The aesthetic duality stems from the clients’ affinity for rustic design, and the need to create a modish shell for entertaining. The home is deeply rooted in European design—drawing inspiration from travels across Italy, Greece, Malta and Spain

◾The dining area, fireplace and stairs, collectively christened the ‘grand family room’, were admittedly a design challenge. The area featured a dead space, a plain stairway, a bijou dining area and no place for storage. The width of the stairway was doubled to craft a sequence of cosy, upholstered seating nests on alternate steps. The under-stairs cubby holes were then added for storage, the dead space converted into a striking indigo feature wall, and a petite dining booth conjured against the wall.

The colour palette was composed predominantly using white and muted pastel greens to soak up and celebrate every ray of natural light that engulfs the house at its high altitude. The intermingling of crisp, vivifying tones with classic, yet tastefully glamourous furniture create a modern romance in the heart of the swarming city of Bengaluru.
