SDeG

SDeG SDeG (Sujit Nair Design Group) was founded in 2007 and is currently involved in projects of varied types and scales.

The practice is interested in the many possibilities that emerge from complex urban flows and shifts in culture, politics, socio-economic patterns, belief systems and capital, resulting in an Architecture of wide-ranging circumstances. By aiming to be consistently experimental and switching tactics swiftly, design can be liberated from predetermined and preservationist notions – SDeG believes in a

n architecture of overlapping attitudes, technologies and techniques, that respond to fluid project situations and contemporary urban transformations.

A 46-storeyed ensemble comprising two interconnected tower sets. We’re interested in seeking out opportunities within a tight framework of floor-plate efficiencies, saleability and construction systems that drive developer projects. And use this criteria to open up possibilities for both form and facade.

BOB's Bar | Bangalore

The 80-year-old bungalow, now houses a large ‘vintage’ bar, with seating in what were once private spaces and hallways of the Villa. The veranda and porch open on to a large forecourt for about 100 covers. The villa was also structurally reinforced, to accommodate seating on the roof, with new mezzanine inserts and two large decks that snake out of the building towards the edge of the property, offering views and seating for guests along to Wood Street.

Rambagh | Banglore
Originating at the entry foyer, a ribbed wall snakes through the center of the home, merging form and function.
The living room doubles up as a home office, separated by a sliding glass divider that opens up for larger gatherings. Anchoring the space are two key elements: a striking ‘Girl with a Pearl Ear-ring’ painting, an early acquisition that commanded a prominent wall.

‘Rambagh’ , as our Client fondly calls it, is a home for a family of three - a sophisticated, minimal and functional home defined by openness, curated elements and patinated surfaces. We imagined the space to include a combination of amplified foreground features, set against muted backdrops, letting art take the spotlight in these spaces.

School | Mandya district
Designed as a rural insert, the school responds to its setting not just through its institutional capacities, but also by actively engaging with the community. Beyond its academic functions, it aspires to create opportunities for the marginalised, promote excellence, and will hopefully assert its identity as a hub for this region. The building’s edge opens to the adjacent public grounds through tiered seating, forming a threshold for interaction and shared use.

SMGR Memorial | Chitradurga
The memorial is designed to offer an immersive experience, guiding visitors from compact enclosed spaces to expansive open ones, defining a ‘journey’ of both tightness( struggle) and release ( emancipation ). Carved into the site’s natural contours, it merges with the landscape, while a beacon rises from the landscape, as a landmark along the high way.
