We have been building with bamboo for close to 3 decades! Another step towards mainstreaming Bamboo for sustainable development through use in buildings, products and infrastructure! 🌱

On this Earth day 🌍🌱We reinforce our commitment to grassroot efforts for climate resilience by another concrete step:

Ar Prof Neelam Manjunath with Ar Ayush Hazare and CGBMT School of Bamboo Studies are conducting a survey as part of our ongoing research “Mainstreaming Bamboo in Building and Design sector- Mapping Global mindsets for future roadmaps”- on the use of bamboo in contemporary architecture, construction, and product design across different regions and contexts globally. 🎋
We did our first survey in 2017 with WBO and Archdaily. In this follow-up survey, by sharing your experiences, projects, and perspectives, you will be contributing to a deeper collective understanding of how bamboo is being adopted, what opportunities it offers, and what challenges practitioners face in real-world practice today with tremendous advancements in the sector. Your responses will be used solely for academic and research purposes.🎋

Well, it’s not that Manasaram Architects never had a website! 😀

It’s just that post Covid, we tried helping friends and family by giving them breaks to start their careers in website making- first my brother’s brother-in-law, then a family friend’s son-in-law, then an intern alumni of Manasaram and then, I lost track … 🙂, just to tweak our website and then one day it bombed “Error 402” or something like that in Jan 2023- you can’t access your website. 😳

Try as we could by writing a plethora of mails and long toll-free calls- we got exhausted! 😓🥲 So much for helping your family and friends to set up their professions 🙄 and almost lose your’s already economically unsustainable professional practice ☹️of practicing “”
SUSTAINABILITY””!!!! 🌱to save the world 🌎!

Yes That’s what is the amazing part! Why does Manasaram do what it does and how! 🤔We are coming back soon 🔜 with our new website to answer your questions! 😎

In the meantime sharing a site story from one of our upcoming projects- Toda Community Center in Bikapati mund in the Niligiris Biosphere Reserve near Ooty

"Ecocide law will transform environmental stewardship from a choice into a global mandate."

A new article in Legal Service India examines the growing global momentum to recognise as a fifth international crime alongside genocide and war crimes.

Imran Wahab, a legal researcher with a long career in the Indian Police Service, traces how the 2021 ecocide definition developed by the Independent Expert Panel (convened by the Stop Ecocide Foundation) has become the basis for legislative efforts worldwide.

Wahab also notes that there is now a formal proposal to amend the statute of the International Criminal Court with a new crime of ecocide, while the EU's revised Environmental Crime Directive now requires member states to criminalise cases ‘comparable to ecocide’.

The case for is clear: having a legal framework in place means those in positions of power are individually liable for major environmental harm, transforming ecological protection from a choice into a legal obligation with real accountability.

What has Manasaram Architects been busy with?

No website?!
No social media engagement?! In this age?!

Really?!

Well we have been a bit too busy (seriously) unable to get time to do that😓! Small team 🥲 because we work in the sustainability sector and work too much on each project!
Researching, developing, testing, Designing, building, archiving, advocating, OFFLINE events and some online as well and so on!

And shortly we are going to share them with you, to tell about our ventures with nature, clients, artisans, site stories etc-

from our office-Bamboo Symphony!

(“Bamboo Symphony” voted one of the 8 best offices to work in 2011 and one of the beacons of future Architectural vocabulary for the next decade in 2023)

Why Bengaluru Needs Public Spaces 🌳✨

Swipe through to see why public spaces aren’t luxuries—they’re the foundation of thriving, equitable cities. From democracy to climate resilience, here’s what we’re fighting for:
- Cities without public spaces = collections of strangers.
- Healthier cities start with accessible spaces.
- Inclusive growth needs inclusive spaces.
- Climate adaptation starts at street level.

Our Greater Bangalore Authority-backed proposals deliver exactly this—happy, equitable, sustainable public realms.

Staircases are where structure meets sculpture. At Manasaram Architects, each flight is imagined as a journey—with custom railings, changing light, and shifting views that connect spaces across our diverse projects, from vibrant apartment stairwells to intimate villa cores. Far from mere circulation, staircases are important spaces—places for pause, reflection, and connection.
