"At Biome, every master plan begins with the land itself — decoding its many layers, flows, and features before a design takes shape.
Poomale, a vast and complex site in the Western Ghats, comes with its own story. Parts of the inactive farm had been reclaimed by forest growth. Our aim has been to conserve and enhance this landscape.
Through detailed analysis we mapped water flows, slopes, vegetation, and wildlife movement. This helped us create riparian buffers to ensure the site's ecological resilience and define areas for no development and controlled development, in clusters. In Glen Murcutt's words, the goal is to touch the earth lightly.
It is deeply fulfilling to work with like-minded clients, collaborators and other domain experts, as we dialogue and develop ideas into designs that are rooted in sustainability, landscape, and community.
