*Should people follow Feng Shui without understanding its logic?*

Most of the confusions about vastu are basically not even connected to Vastu but to Feng Shui. Many of you ask if a certain article can be "placed" in a certain zone in a house thinking that it pertains to vastu but in essence, such questions are about Feng Shui.

But in traditional Feng Shui, which is from the land of China, all rules are mainly designed to protect a Chinese household from yellow dust and sand which the mainland of China receives from itsdeserts in north border. Hence, Feng Shui considers north as an evil direction and prefers south direction!

Vastu shastra follows a scientific logic (that you learn in my courses) in selection of openings and gives importance to early morning Sunlight and benign geomagnetic flux (that is available to us from north).

Hence, most of the so called confusions that you may have are not connected to Vastu at all and blindly following what you see/hear on social media may do more harm than good.

*How should be the interior decoration of a house?* ( Chitra karma vastu shastra)

There are nine "rasa" or emotions. They are shringara, hasya, karuna, roudra, veera, bhayanaka, adbhuta, bhibhatsa and shanta.

The elements of decoration used must be of shringara, hasya and shanta rasa. All others are not allowed.

The scripture of Samarangana Sutradhara lists objects that are suitable as well as unsuitable for display within our homes.

For example,the unsuitable objects are those that depict battle scenes, destruction of houses/forests/nature by fire, starvation, disease, pain, broken and burnt trees, trees that house spirits, thorny and bitter trees, carnivorous animals, animals that inhabit mountains and forests and nocturnal birds (owl).

Some of the suitable objects are those that depict young people playing, large and tall trees laden with fruits and flowers in the garden, leaves and creepers laden and bent with the weight of fruits and flowers; treasure, gems, heaps of jewels, and Lakshmi, the goddess of abundance.

Goddess Lakshmi is said to have risen from the oceans at the time of samudra manthana. Ocean symbolises Jala tattva. Jala tattva is related to North.

In the Vastu Purusha Mandala , the core deity of north is "Bhudhara". Who is holding Bhu? Lord Vishnu. Where Vishnu is , there is Lakshmi. Even the DIKPALAKA of the north is Kubera indicating the connection of wealth with north.

On this auspicious day of *Vara Maha Lakshmi vrata*, pay extra attention to your north in your homes as well as in the plot and keep it clean. Throw away all junk that you have been accumulating.... Increase the north energy and invite Goddess Mahalakshmi home.🙏

The easiest way of increasing north energy is to keep the motherly figures in the family happy!
