For this yoga studio, we approached the design the way the practice itself is approached.. starting with the ground beneath, and slowly building upward with intention.

The wooden flooring by Armstrong anchors the space, offering warmth, comfort, and durability for daily movement. Stucco-textured walls by Asian Paints keep the palette soft and tactile, letting the space breathe. Custom-made pendant lights from a local vendor add quiet character without overpowering the room. Claymen wall faces bring a sense of calm presence, while greenery from IKEA softens edges and adds life.

The MS bookshelf, built on-site, holds a mix of vintage finds sourced from thrift stores in Mahabalipuram and everyday pieces from IKEA, Home Centre, and Lifestyle.. grounding the studio in both memory and modernity.

Good commercial spaces aren’t styled.
They’re assembled.. thoughtfully, collaboratively, and with care.

Open kitchen or closed kitchen?
This is one of the most common questions we get and the answer is never universal.

An open kitchen connects cooking to the living and dining spaces. It feels social, expansive, and works beautifully if hosting is part of your lifestyle.
A closed kitchen, on the other hand, keeps cooking contained no smells travelling, no visual clutter, and complete separation when needed.

But real homes rarely fit into black or white decisions.

At SLA, we often design hybrid kitchens spaces that feel open when you want conversation and connection, and close when you need privacy and control. Show kitchens paired with utility kitchens. Sliding glass partitions. Pocket doors. Breakfast counters that soften sightlines without cutting off flow.

Good kitchen design isn’t about trends.
It’s about understanding how you actually live and designing around that.

Would you choose open, closed, or something in between?

Designing for scale requires clear thinking.

This project for Flexco India involved creating office interiors within a large warehouse of about 150,000 sq. ft., split into three separate sections. While the main warehouse was already built, our focus was solely on the office spaces inside it.

The goal was simple: design workspaces that are functional, efficient, and closely match the company's way of working. Planning was the foundation of our design. We prioritized circulation, the layout of spaces, easy movement, and everyday usability in every decision we made.

We chose materials that were honest and minimal. We avoided decorative elements that lacked purpose and luxury items that didn’t add value. The size of the space called for restraint here, form truly follows function, and each element has a reason for being.

This project emphasizes discipline, clarity, and practicality. It aims to support work, operations, and growth quietly, without distractions.

Stay tuned for more details on the planning, material choices, and ex*****on in our upcoming posts.

Designing for scale demands clarity.

This project for Flexco India involved designing the office interiors within a large warehouse development spanning nearly 1.5 lakh sq. ft., divided into three independent blocks. While the warehouse shell was already executed, our scope focused entirely on the office environments that sit within it.

The intent was straightforward. Create workspaces that are functional, efficient, and deeply aligned with the company’s operational language. Planning became the backbone of the design. Circulation, hierarchy of spaces, ease of movement, and everyday usability guided every decision.

Material choices were kept honest and minimal. Nothing decorative without purpose. Nothing excessive for the sake of appearance. The scale of the space demanded restraint, where form truly follows function and every element earns its place.

This is a project rooted in discipline, clarity, and practicality. Designed to support work, operations, and growth quietly, without distraction.

Stay tuned as we break down the planning, material logic, and ex*****on in the coming posts.
