Greenhouse Effect" is melting the Earth ice core every minute and creating dangerous icebergs. By knowing the exact concentration of CO2(Carbon Dioxide), we can do something to reduce the CO2 and to protect our Earth. Here is the CO2 sensor designed by DFRobot lovely engineer.

This is the first CO2 sensor in Arduino market. The output voltage of the module falls as the concentration of the CO2 increases. The potentiometer onboard is designed to set the threshold of voltage. As long as the CO2 concentration is high enough (voltage is lower than threshold), a digital signal (ON/OFF) will be released.

It has MG-811 sensor module which is highly sensitive to CO2 and less sensitive to alcohol and CO, low humidity & temperature dependency.
Onboard heating circuit brings the best temperature for sensor to function. Internal power boosting to 6V for heating sensor best performance.
This sensor has an onboard conditioning circuit for amplifying output signal.
To ease the difficulty of using this CO2 sensor, a Gravity Interface is adapted to allow plug&play. The Arduino IO expansion shield is the best match for this CO2 senor connecting to your Arduino microcontroller.

This is an electrochemical CO2 sensor, it is suitable for qualitative analysis. There are the other Infrared CO2 sensors, which could make a quantitative analysis.

Gravity: Analog Infrared CO2 Sensor For Arduino (0~5000 ppm), high precision, apply to Arduino and other microcontrollers with ADC function.

Gravity: UART Infrared CO2 Sensor (0-50000ppm), wide range, apply to Arduino, Raspberry Pi and other microcontrollers with UART function.

DO YOU KNOW..????
◾Electricity travels at the speed of light - more than 186,000 miles per second!
◾A spark of static electricity can measure up to three thousand (3,000) volts.
◾A bolt of lightning can measure up to three million (3,000,000) volts, and it lasts less than one second!
◾Electricity always tries to find the easiest path to the ground.
◾Electricity can be made from wind, water, the sun and even animal p**p.
◾A 600 megawatt natural gas plant can power 220,000 homes.
◾The first power plant - owned by Thomas Edison - opened in New York City in 1882.
◾Thomas Edison invented more than 2,000 new products, including almost everything needed for us to use electricity in our homes: switches, fuses, sockets and meters.
◾Benjamin Franklin didn't discover electricity, but he did prove that lightning is a form of electrical energy.

Indian Space Research Organisation, today, launched its monster rocket, Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV Mk III), with 3,136 kg communication satellite GSAT-19 from the spaceport of Sriharikota, in Andhra Pradesh. The launch will give India self-reliance in delivering large payloads and also prepare the country for its attempt to put astronauts into space.

Here are some facts that you might not have known about the rocket:

1. The GSLV MkIII-D1 carried payloads of up to 4,000 kg into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) and 10,000 kg into the Low Earth Orbit. The rocket was developed for 15 years at a cost of around Rs 300 crore.

2. The GSLV Mk III D1 was a three-stage vehicle with indigenous cryogenic upper stage engine designed to carry heavier communication satellites into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).

3. The GSLV MkIII, which was earlier known as Launch Vehicle Mark-III or LMV Mark III, could be India’s first vehicle to ferry people into space.

4. The rocket’s main and bigger cryogenic engine was developed by space scientists indigenously. It will help India get a greater share of the multi-billion dollar global space market and reduce dependency on international launching vehicles.

5. GSAT-19 is be powered for the first time with indigenously-made Lithium-ion batteries. These batteries have been made so that India's self-reliance quotient can increase. In addition, similar batteries can then be used to power electric vehicles like cars and buses.

6. The 43.43 metre tall, 640 ton rocket, will, just over 16 minutes into its flight, sling the GSAT-19 at its intended orbit at an altitude of 179 km.

7. The satellite, which has a life span of 10 years, also features certain advanced spacecraft technologies including miniaturised heat pipe, a fibre optic gyro, micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) accelerometer, Ku-band TTC transponder, as well an indigenous lithium-ion battery.

South Asia Satellite GSAT-9 is a Geostationary Communication satellite realised by India. The primary objective of GSAT-9 is to provide various communication applications in Ku-band with coverage over South Asian countries.

GSAT-9 is configured around the ISRO’s standard I-2K bus. With lift off mass of 2230 kg the main structure of the satellite is cuboid in shape built around a central cylinder. GSAT-9 carries communication transponders operating in Ku-band.

The two solar arrays of GSAT-9 consisting of Ultra Triple Junction solar cells generate about 3500 Watts of electrical power. Sun and Earth sensors as well as gyroscopes provide orientation reference for the satellite. The Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) of the satellite maintains it’s orientation with the help of momentum wheels, magnetic torquers and thrusters. The satellite’s propulsion system consists of a Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) and chemical thrusters using liquid propellants for initial orbit raising and station keeping. The satellite also carries plasma thrusters, assisting in station keeping.

GSAT-9 was launched by GSLV-F09 on Friday, May 05, 2017 from the Second Launch Pad (SLP) at Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR), Sriharikota. .
