The Inauguration Session & Weave Tech – National Level Workshop (23rd–24th February 2026) under the project “Capacity Building Programme using ICT Tools & Technology to Enhance the Livelihood of Weavers/Artisans of BTC, Assam – Phase II” was successfully conducted with great enthusiasm and participation at Tamulpur District.
Funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and implemented by C-DAC Kolkata in association with the Department of Handloom & Textiles, BTC, Kokrajhar

Graced by eminent dignitaries including Dr. Ch A S Murty, Centre Head, C-DAC Kolkata; Shri Jitender Tak, Director, Indian Institute of Handloom Technology; Shri Pritam Dutta, Director, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship & IIE; Shri Hara Kanta Baro, Regional Director, NERO, Ministry of Textiles; Smt. Simi Karan, District Commissioner, Tamulpur; Ms. Tulika Pandey, Group Coordinator, MeitY; along with senior officials of BTC including Shri Ractim Buragohain and other dignitaries, the programme reflected strong institutional convergence.
The event featured an Award Ceremony (Certificate of Excellence to Beneficiaries), followed by Technical Sessions, Lab Visit, and Live Demonstration — showcasing how innovation is empowering traditional artisans.

This initiative reinforces our collective commitment to transforming the handloom sector of BTC by integrating ICT tools, enhancing design innovation, improving market access, and ensuring sustainable livelihoods for our weavers and artisans.

Loom distribution is currently underway across the BTC area under the State flagship programme Swanirbhar Naari (SNN).
Today’s distribution programme at Udalguri district was graciously attended by the Hon’ble Speaker, BTC, Tridip Daimary, and the Hon’ble Executive Member, BTC, Fresh Mushahary.
This initiative aims to empower women weavers by strengthening their livelihoods and promoting self-reliance through sustainable handloom activities. The programme reflects BTC’s continued commitment to women’s empowerment and inclusive economic development across the region.

The programme is being implemented by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Kolkata, and funded by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
Trainee enrolment is currently underway in all districts under Bodoland Territorial Council.

The foundation stone of the Production & Marketing Centre ,Haltugaon, Kokrajhar was laid by the Hon’ble Chief ,BTC, Sjt. Hagrama Mohilary, in the gracious presence of Hon’ble Executive Members,BTC Sjt. Derhasat Basumatary and Sjt. Prakash Basumatary, along with other esteemed dignitaries.
The programme marks a significant step towards strengthening infrastructure, empowering weavers, and promoting sustainable growth of the Handloom & Textiles sector in the BTC region.
