The glass brick entrance at Lord Vesper was designed to create a sense of intrigue from the very first moment. Instead of fully revealing the space, it allows light, silhouettes, and movement to filter through softly, building curiosity as you enter.

We wanted the transition into the lounge to feel immersive rather than immediate. The textured glass diffuses the warm lighting behind it, giving the entry a layered and atmospheric quality that shifts through the evening. It becomes less about a doorway and more about creating a mood before the experience unfolds.

At The Melange Studio, we’ve always believed in creating work that is deeply contextual, emotionally driven, and never formulaic. Being recognised as winners of the AD New Wave Award 2026 - Top 25 - feels incredibly special, especially amongst such a diverse and inspiring group of practices.

This recognition feels like encouragement to keep taking risks, keep experimenting, and keep building spaces that feel honest to the people they are made for.

A sincere thank you to the jury - , , , and and the editorial team at AD - , and for recognising our journey and our voice. We’re deeply grateful to be part of this conversation.

Here’s to staying curious, collaborative, and constantly evolving.

For the outdoor bar at Lord Vesper, inside The Oberoi Gurgaon, we wanted to create a space that feels open, easy, and slightly more relaxed than the interiors.

The idea was to let the experience spill outwards. You’re still connected to the energy of the lounge, but with more air, more movement, and a different kind of pause.

The backdrop to the entire space is a large floor to ceiling bar, while the seating is arranged around a central water feature. On one side, vines slowly climb up the walls, and at the center, the sound of moving water becomes part of the atmosphere. Together, these elements shift the experience from feeling like a typical lounge to something more immersive and calming.

When we were designing the upper bar at Lord Vesper inside The Oberoi Gurgaon, we wanted people to feel connected to the energy of the lounge without being in the middle of it all.

The idea was to create a space that feels slightly more intimate and relaxed, where you can still look down into the main bar, feel the movement, hear the music, and remain part of the experience.

We achieved this by keeping the mezzanine visually open, carrying the same material palette and lighting language upstairs, and designing the upper bar as an extension of the space below rather than a separate zone altogether.

The upper floor at Lord Vesper, within The Oberoi Gurgaon, is conceived as a more intimate extension of the lounge below. Overlooking the main bar, it maintains a visual connection to the central volume while offering a sense of privacy within the larger experience.

The space carries forward the same material palette and fluid language, allowing continuity to remain uninterrupted. Anchored by its own bar, the mezzanine balances openness and enclosure, creating a setting that shifts seamlessly from relaxed evenings to more exclusive gatherings.

At Lord Vesper, the staircase emerges as a natural extension of the bar, conceived not as a standalone element but as a continuation of the spatial narrative. Its form rises fluidly from an elliptical base, reinforcing the idea of movement and connection that defines the lounge.
Here it becomes a visual axis, stitching together the ground, mezzanine, and terrace while maintaining a constant dialogue with the ribbon light above.
