My bougainvillea are a real riot nowadays. These beauties are very low on maintenance and high on rewards.
Keep them in full sun and water only when the leaves shrivel. Soon the blooms will start. Water them every day during the blooming period. This lasts close to a month.
Once the blooms are over, prune each branch 3 inches below the blooms and repeat the drill of not watering them till the leaves shrivel. The next set of blooms will come up very fast with more blooms than last time due to the pruning.
All my bougainvillea bonsais are the Thai varieties. Some of them have no leaves, only flowers.
I have grafted bougainvillea, fusion bougainvillea and bougainvillea bonsais. They’re all in ceramic pots. The prices go Rs1000 upwards.
I have shaded colors because of cross pollination. For example a white and magenta bougainvillea fusion have pink and white shaded blooms. A yellow and red one together give some unique mustard colored ones.
The pictures are of my own creation. Please hurry if you’re interested. They’re all unique and get sold out very fast. These don’t need repotting for the next two years.
