2024 was a transformative year for me—a year in which I faced and conquered two of my biggest fears: stage fright and camera shyness. It also marked my 50th birthday, a milestone that inspired me to challenge myself in ways I never had before.
For as long as I can remember, I have admired people who exude confidence on stage, speaking and performing with ease. I always dreamed of doing the same, but fear kept me in the shadows. This year, I finally broke free.
Before my 50th birthday in September, I stepped onto the stage three times, performing in front of an audience of over 300 people. I played a witness in an adaptation of The Night of January 16th: The Woman on Trial and, in November, took on the role of a school teacher in Trouble in Malgudi, inspired by R.K. Narayan’s Malgudi Days.
Another significant breakthrough was overcoming my camera shyness. I began creating Instagram Reels to inspire busy individuals to declutter and organize their homes. This was a huge step for me—someone who had always been hesitant and nervous in front of the camera.
To celebrate my 50th birthday, I embarked on a solo trip to Bhutan. Traveling alone had always been a dream of mine, but the fear of the unknown held me back. Taking that leap was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Exploring a country on my own was empowering, and it gave me a profound sense of independence and fulfillment.
And then, in a moment of pure joy and spontaneity, I danced. At my nephew’s wedding in Delhi, I stepped onto the stage and danced in front of an audience for the first time in my life—despite my self-proclaimed “two left feet.” That experience was magical and a true celebration of letting go.
This year taught me to embrace who I am, express myself freely, and stop worrying about what others might think.
My biggest takeaway? Challenge yourself, give it everything you’ve got, and live boldly. Life is too short to hold back—do what brings you joy and live for yourself.
Here's wishing you a peaceful, clutter-free and fulfilling 2025!
