This is world COPD month and Flying Flora Manipur also likes to take responsibility to spread the awareness of COPD and we will be part of the group to improve our environment.
What Is COPD?
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is a group of progressive lung disease that obstructs airflow and result in symptoms such as chronic cough, wheezing, shortness of breath, among others. As the disease progresses, it hampers one's ability to carry out day-to-day tasks.
Why COPD Month?
World COPD Day is a global effort to boost people's understanding of COPD and advocate for better care for patients.
This Year's Theme
The 2020 theme for World COPD Day is "Living Well With COPD- Everybody, Everywhere". This year's aim is to send a positive message to both patients and providers that although COPD does not have a cure, there are many ways to actively live well.
Why Is COPD A Cause Of Concern?
About 210 million people have COPD disease, according to 2007 WHO estimates. WHO predicts that COPD will become the third leading cause of death worldwide by 2030. More than 90% of COPD-related deaths happen in low and middle-income countries. In India, three out of five leading causes of mortalities constitute noncommunicable diseases whereas COPD is the second biggest cause of death. Key risk factors for COPD are to***co smoking, INDOOR AND OUTDOOR AIR POLLUTION, and exposure to occupational dust and chemicals.
Flying Flora Manipur is working to make a contribution to the fight against air pollution in the state. We will share our ideas regularly.
