Bethnal Green Underground Tube Station, London Grammar

During World War II, Bethnal Green Tube station was one of the few stations that were the obvious choice for shelter when air raids were being carried out. The station has 5,000 bunks and at times it can hold 7,000 people. The station saved many lives during the Blitz; however, it also became the site of one of the worst civilian disasters of the war. Following the heavy bombing of German forces on March 3rd 1943, Londoners flocked through the streets and into the underground shelters and when the air raid sirens sounded to announce another...

Akershus Fortress – Oslo, Norway

Built around 1300, Akershus Fortress (aka Akershus Castle) is a medieval castle that served as a defensive stronghold for the city of Oslo. It has served as a prison during the late 18th-19th centuries, with many prisoners dying during their imprisonment. Nazi’s also occupied the castle during World War II, carrying out many ex*****ons on the site.
Akershus Castle is believed to be the most haunted place in Norway, with many ghosts to speak of. With its vast history it’s of little surprise. The most popular of all is the demon dog named Malcanisen that’s said to guard the gates to the castle. Legend says that anyone that is approached by Malcanisen is sentenced to a horrible death sometime in the following three months.
The ghost of a woman named Mantelgeisten is often seen within the castle, walking back towards her chamber. She appears from the darkness wearing a long robe, and has no facial features.

The Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town, South Africa was built in the 17th century by the Dutch East India Company. It’s the country’s oldest colonial building, originally serving as a replenishment station for ships passing the treacherous waters of the Cape.
The first reported paranormal occurrence was when the apparition of a tall gentleman was seen in 1915 on one of the castles’ ramparts. The man wasn’t seen again until 1947, when he was seen on a regular basis over a two week period. He would be seen jumping off the side of one of the castle walls, and walking between the bastions Leerdam and Oranje.
One of the most popular stories associated with the Castle is of the former governor Pieter Gysbert van Noodt. He died on 23 April 1728, the same day he had sentenced to death seven soldiers who were caught attempting to desert the military. It’s believed one of the soldiers placed a curse on him and demanded he came to watch the ex*****on, which he didn’t. Later that day, Van Noodt was found dead slouched over his desk with a look of terror on his face.
Another famous haunting is of the Lady in Grey. She has been witnessed running through the castle holding her face and crying hysterically. However, since a woman’s body was found during recent excavations her ghost hasn’t been reported.
Sometime in the 1700’s, a soldier was found hanging from the bell rope in the bell tower, which overlooks the entrance to the castle. After his death, the bell tower was sealed off however, to this day the bell has been known to strike off its own accord. There’s also the ghost of a black dog who has been known to pounce on unsuspecting visitors, then simply vanish into thin air

The school is featured in episode 1 of National Geographic's "I Wouldn't Go In There."

64.This famous town of Himachal Pradesh has been the favorite background of numerous horror stories and there seems to be a good reason for that. Tunnel no.33 is one such place; allegedly the current owner of this damp, dingy tunnel is the ghost of British Railway Engineer, Colonel Barog, which merrily chats away with anyone who walks in with a question.

How he died is yet another sad story. Barog was overseeing the construction of tunnel no. 33 and to complete it in time he dug the tunnel from both ends of the hill. As a result of gross miscalculation the tunnel could never meet. He was fined Re. 1 by the British Army which was a pretty big amount at that time, disappointed and humiliated Colonel Barog shot himself. The vicinity of Pine Wood Hotel now marks the location of this site. Though colonel Barog riding his horse is a happy spirit but there are two other ghosts which make people avoid this area, one that of a lady who screams and another man who can be seen asking for a lighter

63. Old Stone House
Address: 3051 M Street NW
City: Washington, D.C.
Website: nps.gov

Said to be haunted by no fewer than 11 ghosts, the Old Stone House is the oldest standing building in Washington D.C., dating back to 1765. It was used as a bo****lo in the 1930s, and apparently one of the ghosts (he calls himself George) picked up some bad habits, as he's known for groping and shoving any females he comes across. Were there no bouncers back then to break his fingers and arms?

. Stranahan House
Address: 335 SE 6th Ave.
City: Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Located on former Seminole Indian lands, the Stranahan House was built as a trading outpost in 1902. In 1927, Frank Stranahan committed su***de, allegedly by strapping a large iron gate to his ankle and jumping in the nearby Intercoastal Waterway. His wife, Ivy, remained at the house until she died in 1971, and both of their spirits are said to remain on the premises, now in the shadow of downtown Ft. Lauderdale. Your spring break just got a lot sh*ttier.

61. Thornewood Castle
Address: 8601 North Thorne Ln. SW
City: Tacoma, Wash.
Website: n\a

Finished in 1911 after four years of construction, Thornewood was the lakeside dream home of Chester Thorne, a Tacoma banker who was one of the founders of the Port of Tacoma. At some point, the grandchild of a former owner drowned in American Lake, and now guests have seen the apparition of a young child standing by the lake. In slightly less spooky sightings, ol' Chester himself is said to go around unscrewing lightbulbs. Oh, Chester, you old joker!

60. LaLaurie Mansion
Address: 1140 Royal St.
City: New Orleans
Website:

The French Quarter home of Dr. Louis and Delphine LaLaurie, the LaLaurie Mansion was the site of some of the most gruesome torture seen in America. The LaLauries were notoriously cruel slave owners—one story has Delphine chasing a child slave to her death off the mansion's roof. After a fire swept through the property in 1834, a torture chamber was found in the attic with more than a dozen bodies, many of which evidenced signs of human experimentation. A mob chased the original LaLauries off the property soon thereafter; the building is now a series of luxury condominiums said to be haunted by both Delphine and her victims.

59. Lemp Mansion
Address: 3322 Demenil Pl.
City: St. Louis
Website: n/a

A home built with proceeds from the Lemp family's 19th century beer empire, this house was the site of four family su***des in a 50-year span (the last Lemp shot his dog, too). The last Lemp died at the age of 90 but was so scarred by his family history that he had his caretaker burn all family heirlooms. The house is now said to be haunted by multiple members of the family (we hope the dog gets in on the action, too).

58.Dow Hill, Kurseong, West Bengal

A number of murders have taken place in the Dow Hill forest that has left an eerie feeling in the atmosphere. Many locals have also heard footsteps in the corridors of Victoria Boys School during the December-March vacations. Woodcutters claim to have seen a headless young boy walking and then disappearing into the trees. All these things make this place one of the most haunted places in India.
