Sanctuary is a tropical residence designed as a quiet retreat, rooted deeply in its landscape at Karukutty, Kerala. Spread across a lush 150-cent site, the home blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors, allowing nature to flow seamlessly through the living spaces. Carefully curated courtyards, shaded verandahs, and open vistas ensure constant dialogue with the surrounding greenery.

A defining element of the house is the stone screen wall, which acts as a breathable skin filtering light, enhancing privacy, and creating a play of shadows that evolves through the day. Designed with climate sensitivity and a contemporary tropical language, Sanctuary embodies calm, comfort, and a strong connection to place.

This residence is a testament to the potential of minimal modern design to create spaces that are both functional and serene, integrating the natural environment with human habitation in a densely populated setting.
The Hanniel Residence is characterized by its sleek, minimal modern design, employing clean lines, a monochromatic color scheme, and open floor plans to create an illusion of space and serenity in a compact environment.

Built Up Area: 5200 sqft.

BLISS is conceived as a calm tropical dwelling nestled in the lush landscape of Ayattil, Kollam. Designed to celebrate light, breeze, and the natural greens around, the residence gently opens out to its surroundings while ensuring privacy and comfort within.

A defining aspect of the site was the presence of mature mango trees, which were retained and carefully integrated into the spatial planning. These trees not only anchor the landscape but also provide seasonal shade, aroma, and character to the entry and courtyard spaces. Their organic presence informed the layout, encouraging a harmonious dialogue between built form and nature.

The architecture combines minimalist forms with tactile materials, passive ventilation, and abundant natural light. The central staircase and internal courtyard become spatial highlights bringing connectivity, openness, and a sense of pause within the home.

BLISS is not just a residence; it is a quiet ode to tropical living and rootedness.
